The world is getting weirder and weirder. Huge things are happening at speeds too high to measure, or even fathom, in the brain of a normal human. We are like moths in a blizzard.
This post from @freddienew has been rolling around my head since I first read it, all I could think was…
How the UK Still Functions While Technically Bankrupt?
We’re not really a country anymore, we’re a debt management scheme with a flag.
The numbers don’t lie:
•£212 billion a year paying people not to work,
•£111 billion a year just paying interest on old debt,
•and roughly 0 pence from your income tax funding anything you actually expect, schools, hospitals, police, roads.
So how does it still “work”?
Simple. It doesn’t. It runs. On inertia, credit, and denial.
Every month, the Treasury issues new gilts, the banks pretend to want them, and the Bank of England pretends not to be the buyer of last resort. The money goes out, the promises get rolled over, and everyone smiles for the cameras while the repo markets quietly hum in the background.
It’s not an economy anymore, it’s a life-support system for a collapsing social contract.
We’ve hit the stage where the government borrows to pay interest on the borrowing it used to fund welfare for the people it priced out of the workforce.
And we’re told this is “strong foundations, secure future.”
The lights are on, but they’re powered by debt, denial, and dwindling trust.
Something’s got to give, and it won’t be the spreadsheets that break first.
Meanwhile… Bitcoin quietly waits.
Bitcoin doesn’t run on debt, promises, or political theatre.
It doesn’t need your vote, your tax, or your trust.
It’s governed by maths, not ministers.
While the pound, the FTSE, and the political class all burn credibility for warmth, Bitcoin just keeps producing blocks, one every ten minutes, indifferent to the chaos.
It’s not about getting rich anymore.
It’s about opting out of a system that’s eating itself alive.
Because when the illusion finally collapses, you’ll wish you’d saved in something that didn’t.

A leaderless decentralized cypherpunk open source software project that secures property rights and free speech for anyone and destroys central banking and financial censorship has just eclipsed the corporate behemoth Amazon in market cap
4 left to go… ✌️
The UK's surveillance laws are now some of the most extensive in the world. Forcing Apple into a position where it removes e2ee in the UK sets a dangerous precedent.
Proton would never build a backdoor, but we wouldn't open the front door by removing our e2e encryption either.
