They are sparse, but we are sniffing them! We can detect white shark DNA suspended in water samples in 4 hours - from sampling to results - with smartphone-size thermocyclers and gel runners connected via Bluetooth. #wsc21 #eDNA

Our team landed in Pantelleria on June 16 after finding the presence of a Mako shark in a nearby channel. Here’s to getting closer to hopefully finding the White shark! #WSC21

Zootopia in the Sicilian Channel: a young shortfin mako and bluefin tuna were best buddies Pantelleria banks. They were swimming together and checking out our bait canister. The #WSCS21 continues after this peculiar encounter in one of our #BRUV deployments.

Great detection by a BRUV deployment! Bluefin tuna swimming close to the mighty tuna trap of #Favignana. Once, many of these fish would have been intercepted by the historic fishery. #wsc21 @AmpEgadi

260lb blue tuna seen while our team is at ports in Marsala! There is word of mako #sharks in the area. Our team will stay in Marsala for a couple more days and then we are off to continue our search for white sharks! 🦈 #WSC21
