A recording has emerged, attributed to a senior BC Conservative staff member, that I find deeply concerning.

If it’s authentic, the suggestion that money contributed by party members could be misused is completely unacceptable.

Members work hard for their money. They donate because they believe in the party and its cause. They deserve to know that every dollar they contribute is being handled properly and used for the purposes they intended.

While a staff member has reportedly been fired, that isn’t enough. The use of the words "we" and "our" in the recording suggest this troubling attitude may extend beyond one individual.

The party needs to do right by its members.

There should be an independent investigation to determine how donor dollars have been spent, to ascertain whether any member funds were misused, and to hold those involved accountable.

Party members deserve nothing less.
