This week in #Addis has been an absolute pleasure, working alongside a talented group of experts to address the vital issue of financing #Africa's #energytransition in a convening by @NRGInstitute. The collaboration and insights have been truly inspiring.
A few of the financing mechanism & issues explored:
- Blended finance -Defining Roles and Responsibilities & accountability mechanism
-Debt Sustainability Frameworks: Debt Accumulation Risks, fiscal discipline concerns.
-International Climate Finance Commitments: inconsistent flow of funding & lack of fulfilment of funding pledges
-Green bonds and sustainability linked loans: limited market access, standardization of metrics
-Just energy transition partnership: Unequal benefit distribution; governance, coordination
-Regulatory policy frameworks: inadequate social safety nets
-International development financing: conditionality of loans, debt burdens
-Philanthropic financing: Accessibility, limited focus & size, sustainability & reach
