In the lab, I'm Interested in how molecular changes shape organismal outcomes. Outside of the lab, I build better science around works of fiction.

Libgen, Sci-Hub, and Z-library had millions of pirated academic books and papers.
So, they were shut down. We shouldn't use them anyway.
We should help billion-dollar academic publishers get richer.
Anyway, here's how to access these libraries:
Don't do this!
New work from our group led by @neuroprototype in @Frontiersin Ethology! Ever wonder how mating leks may form in the wild? We think animal coloration may be shaping their formation! https://t.co/2xUY1E249n
How can faculty most effectively mentor students? QC Assistant Professor @Sebcredible speaks Spanish with them to create a "safe" space and eliminate cultural barriers and encourages them to build a network of mentors. https://t.co/GsXxKzgIDj
For those of you who wanted a copy of of my talk today at #abrcms here you go. Thanks for all the interest for those who attended: https://t.co/IoMiHfrtr1
URISE at Queens College at ABRCMS 2023! This year, our students had the honor of showcasing their research at prestigious conference, alongside a diverse community of scholars, researchers, and STEM enthusiasts. #URISEATQC#ABRCMS2023@QC_News@QCToday@MaralTajerian
Why are skunk stripes variable in some places but uniform in others? Our new paper in Evolution used 749 museum skins to examine several hypotheses for why an aposematic (warning) signal like stripes should be variable when having consistent stripes helps preds make fewer errors!
Bats use their "brain GPS" for more than just flying! A study by UC Berkeley shows that the same neurons that help bats navigate through space also help them navigate social interactions. It's a game-changer for how we understand social and spatial memory.

A nice piece, but also a great example of how repeatedly mainstream neuroscience routinely overlooks the insights of neuroethologists who have been making these claims and employing these ideas for decades.
For those of you who knew and loved @MaruskaLab there is a memorial fund in her honor @LSU to support students conducting research in neuroscience, sensory biology or behavioral biology.

Oxford Nanopore was the first to enable direct RNA sequencing. The new kit (RNA 004) and flow cell for direct RNA sequencing demonstrates increased accuracy and output, with the potential to unlock a new field of biological analysis. #nanoporeconf https://t.co/mchKktqzAd
The ever magnificent and marvelous @MaralTajerian got awarded an NIH #URISE grant to support @QC_News undergraduates! Here's our brand new website: https://t.co/MnK4s7LbXj
Happy to have our PhD student Annaliese back from her stay at @OISTedu in Japan! Many thanks to the JSPS and Jonathan Miller for hosting her (and Zdenek Lajbner for helping us start a study with bigfin reef squid🦑) ! #AlvaradoLab
