What a great birthday gift! So incredibly proud of both Democrat and Republican senators for displaying the true meaning of bipartisanship. @MajLeaderHirono@VeryrealMitch , thank you for being the leaders your parties needed today.
“For the American people, for Veterans, for our nation” - Senator Cardin. My hope is that ALL senators hold this sentiment near as they consider this budget.
I’m grateful to the Aassanaaq "Ossie" Kairaiuak AK Drum Group and Woodland Sky Dance Company for sharing their talents with us during the @WhiteHouse Tribal Nations Summit.
The second day of the @WhiteHouse Tribal Nations Summit is kicking off at @Interior. Join us for more engaging conversations about the priorities facing Tribal communities: https://t.co/o5hiPLlljE
Throughout these two days, we’ll host several discussions to learn from Tribal leaders on public safety, climate resilience, health, infrastructure and other issues that are important to them.
As I deliver the opening remarks at the @WhiteHouse Tribal Nations Summit, I’m in awe of how far Indian Country has come and can’t help but know that we are in a new era. Watch here: https://t.co/xC34mtMPQg
I'm truly grateful for the opportunity to serve the American people alongside so many incredible public servants at @Interior.
Wishing everyone a safe, restful and joyful Thanksgiving.
Happy Native American Heritage Day, everyone! @Interior honors Native American heritage every day by incorporating Indigenous knowledge in our work, honoring our nation-to-nation relationships with Tribes, and committing to tell the full story of our country.
Through @POTUS’ Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, we’re making historic investments to clean up orphaned oil and gas wells on Tribal lands and address long-standing environmental injustices left behind by extractive industries. https://t.co/fYX87ps09M
The Advisory Committee on Reconciliation in Place Names will accelerate an important process to reconcile derogatory place names. I look forward to listening and learning from this esteemed group. https://t.co/ytlKgIpZLe
Indigenous people and the bison have always been interconnected. But like many things, they were exploited as colonizers continued their moves West. Today, we're working to restore balance to nature and return the bison to its rightful place. https://t.co/YvB2AraCnJ
Though I know this is a small step, I also know this is progress we can be proud of. Today, I wear my red shawl as a symbol of my deep commitment to addressing the root causes of the violence in Indian Country that has plagued us for far too long.
At @interior we’re making steady progress in pursuit of this work. As of the end of September, our Missing and Murdered Unit has investigated 503 missing and murdered persons cases and has solved 68 missing persons cases and 5 murder cases.
On Red Shawl Day, we bring attention to the relatives who are impacted by the missing and murdered Indigenous peoples crisis. It's a day of remembrance and of commitment to continue our quest for justice.
When I was a kid, my dad would take me and my siblings on hikes any chance he got. Now, hitting the trails is one of my favorite things to do. Happy National Hiking Day, everyone!
This week, we celebrate one year of @POTUS’ Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. We’ve heard from folks about the transformational projects made possible by these investments.
