Today was a special day at the Indiana Statehouse. Union was recognized at the 2026 @EducateIN Literacy Achievement Celebration. We had 100% of our students pass IREAD last year. Over the last three years, I’ve been able to take one guest, and this year Mrs. Small joined me. It was extra special today to have @CreeksideElem join us. My colleague and friend, Dr. @mbheiden, was the guest speaker for their outstanding growth in IREAD.💙@SecJennerIN @myfcs

Accountability in higher education has to mean more than access; it has to mean outcomes. Proud to see Hunt-Kean Leadership Fellow Secretary Katie Jenner (@SecJennerIN) taking this seriously in Indiana. The Indiana Commission for Higher Education recently took action on more than 1,000 low-enrolled degree programs, consolidating, suspending, eliminating, or monitoring them after a comprehensive review of 2,300 programs.

This work reflects a broader shift: aligning higher education with in-demand careers and ensuring students who earn degrees are positioned to earn meaningful wages.
