I’m so disappointed in @GiorgiaMeloni. Despite her being a WEF member, I was willing to give her the benefit of the doubt when she became Prime Minister of Italy - turned out that was a mistake.
Before she got in power, I listened to her speak passionately about her being a proud Christian, mother and Italian, standing up against the globalists. She was fiery and made big promises about stopping mass migration. Ones she seemed serious about keeping.
But so far, she hasn’t delivered at all. From the first day she’s been in power, she’s done nothing but sucking up to Zelensky and the EU bureaucrats. She didn’t install any of the “sea blockades” that she promised while campaigning. Instead she just went to Tunisia to make a fake deal about migration with Mark Rutte and Ursula von der Leyen. It’s all window dressing.
It’s a disgrace how spineless she’s been: Empty rhetorics, zero results.
Do you want to be involved in resisting the gender nonsense percolating all aspects of Irish society?
Well, you will be highly constrained in your contribution should the ‘Hate Speech Bill’, currently before the Seanad again in September, pass.
If, for example, you wish to tell your school that you don’t want your child educated into gender ideology and the early sexualisation that goes with it, or you want to ensure that biological men are not allowed into your daughter’s changing rooms, or you object in your workplace to being forced to use unwanted pronouns, or oppose the discredited affirmation model around gender dysphoria, or oppose preferential treatment based on 'gender identity', or wish to campaign against extending gender equality legislation to include gender identity, or even campaign against certain gender proposals in a referendum later this year, then don’t be surprised if you find your views on these being designated as hate and denied the oxygen of publicity.
First, let’s look at what the Hate Speech Bill does. Normally when we speak of ‘gender’ we mean the biological sex of a person. Sex is binary, either male or female. The Bill’s new definition+ of gender embraces the idea that gender can be anything, that it is any ‘gender identity’ you choose it to be.
Thus, any expression of ‘hate’ (undefined in the Bill) against any one of the indefinite ‘gender identities’, for example, Catgender*, is liable to lead to you being excluded from polite company, perhaps sanctioned professionally and possibly face criminal charges.
The Bill pulls this new controversial definition gender from nowhere. Minister Helen McEntee argues that the new definition applies only to this Bill. Yet her predecessor declared that he was ‘future- proofing’ the Bill, in short, this new definition reflects what the Government intend gender to mean (for example in future legislation).
HOWEVER, with the protected characteristic status given to gender ideologues in this ‘Hate Speech Bill’ opponents of the ideology will be forced to fight with two hands tied behind their backs. Their anti-gender identity views will be deemed hatred, social media companies will be expected to supress their views, and mainstream media will toe the official line. Thus, the minority ideology wins out, without even a political fight.
Farfetched? Here is what one Government senator said last month: “You damage everyone in society and the fabric of this country when you say to people they are not as good as you because of their religion, ethnicity, sexual orientation or whatever it might be. It is not okay. It is time we shut it down and that we shut down the nonsense going on online about this.”
How have we reached this inability to listen to others and argue the way forward with them?
Some politicians embrace all aspects of gender ideology. A larger number of politicians do not have any idea of what is going on – they trust the system and the institutions. Yet others have made it clear that they cannot speak openly, as cancel culture wields a hefty undemocratic stick. Such silencing allows the ideology to creep forward without ever having to explain itself.
Please work to persuade all politicians that the ‘Hate Speech Bill’ needs to be withdrawn and substantially amended. People must be allowed to exercise dissent on matters of fundamental importance without being accused of hatred or leave themselves open to criminal sanction.
Footnotes
+ The Bill’s definition of “gender” – ‘the gender of a person or the gender which a person expresses as the person’s preferred gender or with which the person identifies and includes transgender and a gender other than those of male and female.’
*Catgender (as dictionary defined): ‘is a xenogender in which one feels a gendered connection to cats or other felines. One may feel a strong gendered connection to cats or felines, or may incorporate them into one's gender to better understand their identity. Subsets include felinegender, meowgender, mewgender, and catnipgender.
@CBKNEWS121 Did you know that three of the wealthiest Americans living at the time, none of whose wealth came from banking and all opposed to the formation of the Federal Reserve, passed away on the maiden voyage of Titanic.
Titanic Secret of the Federal Reserve
https://t.co/qgXMG6bZ52
In 1910, some of America's most influential bankers gathered on Jekyll Island to plan the country's monetary policy and establish a central banking system, which resulted in the draft legislation for the creation of the Federal Reserve act.
JP Morgan, the financier and banker who funded and built the Titanic, was booked on its maiden voyage in 1912 but cancelled at the last minute- unlike the most wealthy and influential opponents to the creation of the Federal Reserve Act.
American millionaires who did not owe their fortunes to banking, and the main opposition to the Federal Reserve died on that ship.
The Federal Reserve Act was passed by Congress the following year in 1913.
Americans have been enslaved with the income tax ever since.
'Whoa there, Minister!'
The controversial 'Hate Speech' legislation completed its Second Stage debate in the Seanad this week. Speaking to us, the Minister for Justice indicated that she would not rush the Bill through the Seanad.
So concerned citizens and voters have time and opportunity to make their views known in the coming fortnight. Please do so - especially to Government TDs and Senators, and directly to the Department of Justice.
I think Minister McEntee needs to hear from you because she has got the idea that people are victims of a ‘campaign of disinformation’ by ‘certain commentators, and on social media’ … ‘especially with regard to the public consultation’.
Since she's brought up that 2020 public consultation, I am presenting here some points of information from the Department of Justice after that consultation. I have highlighted some of the phrases in bold just to show how far the Government has departed from this consultation and its results.
The published outcomes say:
‘for this report we have chosen working definitions that reflect the real-life experiences that communities have told us they experience as hate speech and hate crime. Of course any legislative definition will need to be more precisely construed.’
‘Thresholds for criminal hate speech in particular need to be high, to avoid any disproportionate or unnecessary impingement on these fundamental rights which every person is entitled to enjoy.’
‘The criminal law, particularly as it applies to hate speech, should always be the measure of last resort. There is no doubt that criminal legislation alone will not solve the problem of hate speech, and is not suitable for dealing with many of the milder forms.’
The Irish Council for Civil Liberties proposed:
‘Hate speech, though abhorrent, should only be outlawed in the most extreme cases such as incitement to violence.’
‘Other forms of hate speech, which might cause deep offence for example but do not reach a criminal threshold, should be combated by other means.’
‘only extreme forms of hate speech that might lead to acts of hostility, discrimination or violence should be criminalised.’
A number of senators informed the Minister that they had received voluminous correspondence opposing the Bill on similar grounds.
Yet, somehow, the Minister still thinks that the criminalisation of undefined ‘hatred’ is what the public wants.
Closing the debate on Wednesday, the Minister sought to reassure us that we should not fear a restriction of free expression, the lack of a definition of ‘hatred’, or worry that there is anything surreptitious about her including a radical new definition of ‘gender’ in the legislation. But words matter. Especially in criminal law. This Bill allows anyone to be subject to prosecution for undefined hate speech at a time when ordinary people are regularly accused of hatred for the political views they hold and vigorously espouse.
The Minister’s mask slipped only twice.
The first time was when she reassured us that the understanding of ‘hatred’ was the one ‘commonly understood by the judge, by the jury, by the Director of Public Prosecutions.’ Whereas last week the Minister had referred to the one ‘used by the courts, the Garda and the DPP’. So where has the Garda definition gone – you know that vague one which says ‘perceived by any person to, in whole or in part, be motivated by hostility or prejudice’? Poof! It just disappeared – or has it?
The second slip was in the Minister’s closing remark: ‘For people who perhaps are not strong and are not able to deal with some of the targeted abuse and online hatred, we need to make sure there are protections in place to support them, and that is exactly what I am trying to do here.’
It's meant to sound kind. But it means that the fundamental right of freedom of expression is to be suppressed in response to undefined online robust abuse – as if there were an equivalence, and as if that were the purpose of the criminal law.
When good intentions are filtered through the sieves of vested interests (‘stakeholders’) the common good can suffer. The Hate Speech elements in this Bill are proof positive of this.
