@WoodMeena@joel120193@MathsladyScott Too late in the day for me and family ties. I envy teachers who work in a country that values them. Our government has spend two decades making us seem like the enemy.
Teaching isn't a vocation. It's a difficult, rewarding, underpaid, under-appreciated job. The day we stop calling it a vocation and start paying teachers properly for the work, we'll see far more of them stay.

@WoodMeena@joel120193@MathsladyScott Teaching is not a vocation. It's a job. Calling it a vocation makes it easier to pay us less and make us work more. I think a lot of people get into it before they realise how hard and poorly paid it is and are trapped as they can't afford to retrain for another career.
@JamesAFurey I wish more parents would do this. I'm tired of having to pander to the poorly behaved kids because management is afraid of complaints from their parents. Every child matters.....just not the ones who quietly suffer due to the behaviour of a few apparently.
@JamesAFurey I have a GCSE class with targets ranging from 2 to 9. It is impossible to differentiate perfectly for that. I do my best approximation and sometimes the 9s are bored or the 2s are lost. I only have so many hours in a day to plan these lessons.
Forever amazed by staff wellbeing initiatives. More planning time? Smaller classes? Fewer brutal observations? No. Here's a mandatory after-school session on realigning your chakras. Attendance will be monitored. Feel better yet?

@2footgiraffe I would resign today if I could afford it. The job has changed from 20 years ago when I started. The parents and kids run schools now and we just have to bend to their ridiculous demands.
Remembering when a staff wellbeing strategy stretched to a free bacon butty at the end of term. Cheers pal, that'll make right up for the shortened lifespan from unrelenting stress and being made to feel like a constant failure.

Getting into school at silly o'clock is the only way. Nobody around to bother you. Everything planned before the day starts. Can fart to your heart's content. And zero guilt about bolting out the door at 3:30.

Nobody warns you about this part of teaching. You pour years into a group of kids. You worry about them, celebrate them, tell them off, defend them. Then they leave, and you're expected to be fine. I'm not always fine. Caring was never the easy bit.

New life goal: acquire one of the magic yellow toilet passes half of Year 9 now wave at me. Then I too can vanish mid-lesson for a long, peaceful, gloriously child-free shit. They've shown me the path. Who am I to ignore it. #TeacherTwitter#EduTwitter#SecretTeacher#TeacherLife
An early morning school poo can't be beat. Gives you a moment of solitude before everything kicks off. Sets you up for the day. #teachertwitter#teacher
We've seen the fresh demonisation of teachers over recent weeks including then preposterous cat debacle pushed by the right-wing. This is the result. A profession in crisis and no fix in sight.
Rishi Sunak is preparing his Governmentโs latest shameless CON - this time against our teachers. Watch this in disbelief & if you share my anger RT it widely. If UK news shows canโt get the job done letโs damn well do it ourselves!
