Secrist was crucial in our 3-1 series win against USUE last week, finishing with a .611 batting average and a .889 slugging percentage. He had 2 doubles, a home run and 12 RBI, with an OPS of 1.489.

Congrats to 𝘾𝙧𝙚𝙬 𝙎𝙚𝙘𝙧𝙞𝙨𝙩, MIF/OF, 6-3 170, R-R, College of Southern Idaho (2024 Snow Canyon HS, UT) on his commitment to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi!!!

Secrist comes from a long line of college baseball playing older brothers and his father, 5-time state championship head coach (Snow Canyon) Reed Secrist, has played for the title, the last 5 years in a row. His father played 12 years at the professional level, with 8 in AAA and a season in Japan. We’ve known each other for 37 years!

Former neighbors for 15 years of the Secrist’s and his father was one of my PBR staff members. Crew was the Region 9 MVP and the 4A Player of the Year in ‘24!

A two-time Prep Baseball West Coast Games alum for #TeamUtah, Crew now takes his big bat and tough to K out approach at the plate to the Islanders this coming fall!

Was delighted longtime friend and Islanders Head Coach, Scott Malone reached out a week ago, asking how well I knew Crew and for my eval. Was absolutely excited to see Crew’s IG post last night and it made my night!

Also a big congratulations goes out to his father and mother, Reed and Cammy Secrist for this tremendous accomplishment and the diligent hard work and passion that went into fulfilling Crew’s dream to play at the D1 level!!

With opening day going on around the state, where a dry field up north can be found, we begin our weekly coverage of our state team rankings with our 4th annual “POWER 25!”

A new team to the top 5, since opening as a school in 2019, the “Sentinels” of Mountian Ridge HS open the season on paper as the #1 team in the state!

With a state leading “four” D1 commits and another handful of top uncommitted players, the Sentinels are locked and loaded headed into 2024!
