To everyone who was looking forward to "Kimi wo Tsumugu".
We, too, learned of the terrible news regarding the appalling behavior of an individual just a few hours ago.
And we, of course, wish to distance ourselves from it as well. Our sincere sympathy and thoughts are with the victim. Such behavior does not deserve a platform. We are truly heartbroken that you had to go through this.
None of the other people involved in the animation of “Kimi wo Tsumugu” were aware of this. The whole situation makes it difficult for us, as a lot of money, time, and effort have already been poured into this project—a project that was meant to be something big and go far beyond the scope currently announced.
Accordingly, we will need some time to discuss with all other people involved how and whether we can continue with this project. (Without "ButaPro" / FAR)
people getting into the "two dumb friends in Toronto" genre should check out Sublo and Tangy Mustard, a long-running indie cartoon about two dumb friends in Toronto

I love the winter setting of Tokyo Godfathers, it can be beautiful but also really captures the dirty unglamourous side of winter in the city, once the novelty of the fresh snow wears off and you've just been trudging through slush for weeks
For this Sunday's arthouse watching, I watched Abel's Island. I admit that, as far as this "sprawling New Yorker shit" (to quote Charlie Kaufman goes), Steig is much more pleasing to me than Thurber is.
I also did not realize just how sync his style is with the sort of thing Sporn did in The Hunting of the Snark. I did not realize how much like Bambi this is, either, and much less clinical than that is.
I just finally watched Fritz the Cat. Honestly, I am much more sympathetic toward Bakshi's point of view than Crumb's, but still, the movie gets too wrapped up in "wow we just said fuck wow we just showed tits" to showcase the aspects of Bakshi's worldview that I sympathize with.
