NEWS ALERT from @FBIDetroit: Two researchers with the National Institutes of Health were charged with conspiracy to smuggle monkeypox into the United States and giving false statements to federal law enforcement.
A federal complaint alleges that the researchers told Customs and Border Protection (CBP) their case contained diagnostic and testing equipment. However, a investigation by CBP and #FBI agents uncovered 113 vials, 18 of which have been verified to contain monkeypox as of today’s date.
This investigation was conducted by the FBI Detroit Joint Terrorism Task Force, along with assistance from the @FBIBillings' Missoula Resident Agency, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection team at Detroit Metro Airport, and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services – OIG.

We are in the first hours past Memorial Day 2026. In its closing hours, I published some thoughts ---- intentionally as the day and weekend were closing. I did so in hopes of encouraging us all to be grateful for more than a day.
On 19 November 1863, President Abraham Lincoln spoke at the dedication of the military cemetery then being established in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. Just four months earlier, those fields were the site of the war’s bloodiest battle. His address there was brief, and yet it stands as among the greatest examples of American prose every written. In his closing he sought to strengthen the resolve of his fellow citizens:
“It is rather for us to be here dedicated to the great task remaining before us — that from these honored dead we take increased devotion to that cause for which they gave the last full measure of devotion — that we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain — that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom — and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.“
As we enjoy the warmth of a new summer, let us all unite as Americans in defense of our national ideals. Let us highly resolve to rise to the challenge so eloquently expressed by President Lincoln. His words remain as true today as when they were first spoken in 1863.
God bless our fallen, and their families. God bless America, and help us to be truly grateful.

Taxpayers and billionaire philanthropists have spent around $1 billion on “violence interrupter” programs in Chicago over the past decade.
The backers include some of the biggest names in politics and business, like Laurene Powell Jobs, the widow of Steve Jobs, and Governor J.B. Pritzker.
There’s just a few problems—@Olivia_Reingold found more than two dozen instances of violence interrupters getting arrested, including a murder charge.
Sheridan Gorman came to Chicago to go to college. A man who entered this country illegally, got arrested in 2023, skipped court, and was never deported shot her dead.
JB Pritzker protects illegal criminals. One just killed an 18-year-old girl.
Timed with the Thanksgiving holiday, Angel Studios has released the film Bonhoeffer – Pastor, Spy, Assassin. The film tells the true life story of Dietrich Bonhoeffer, a Lutheran minister, theologian and anti-Nazi dissident. He directly challenged the German church of the 1930s and 1940s to reject the hearsays demanded by Adolf Hitler, which he intended to advance his power and further his brutal reign. To this date, the living example of clarity, courage, and sacrifice displayed by Bonhoeffer is a blessing. There is cause for thanksgiving. For those among the clergy and others holding positions of authority, including all who work in policing, the film is a recommended resource.

Well, @ChicagosMayor, given the shocking and inflammatory nature of her words, if Ms. Bartley's statements do not reflect your "values," why is she still employed at City Hall?
April, 2004. San Francisco Police Officer Isaac Espinoza and his partner were on patrol when they saw someone who appeared to be suspiciously concealing something under his jacket. As they were identifying themselves, the man took out an AK-47 and fired at least twelve rounds at the two officers. Espinoza was k*lled. His partner was hit but survived. The officers never even had a chance to pull out their weapons.
A day later an arrest was made. The suspect was a gang member with a violent criminal history who admitted to being in the neighborhood to purchase drugs.
Three days after the incident, before the funeral and without even speaking to Espinoza's family, DA Kamala Harris held a press conference to announce that she was not going to pursue the death penalty.
At the funeral Senator Dianne Feinstein rebuked Kamala Harris for not seeking the death penalty. Feinstein received a standing ovation as the funeral.
Espinoza's wife was devastated that Harris never reached out to her, not even to offer condolences.
