Proud & delighted to be involved again in 3rd year of this exceptional programme @noisyclassroom. Among other roles, I'm looking to set up several heats in Scotland in Jan/Feb 2025 & will be offering free workshops via @seehearteach to reenergise 🏴 state schools debating. DM me!
For colleagues in technical skills shortage session at #TheatreConference, it was me who just talked about schools & Design & Technology, Physics, Engineering, Computing Sci etc. Do come & chat with me about how to link up with these colleagues in primary & secondary education.
I’m @SOLTnews@uk_theatre#TheatreConference all day flying flag for schools, colleges, universities and what we can offer the theatre sector, as well as vice versa. Will tweet mainly @SeeHearTeach. Also keen to talk to London venue heads on behalf of @NoisyClassroom.
@lewisiwu@stratfordeast@NewhamLondon > Key is working with others: @purpose_union’s recent work in rugby: sharing best practice, learning from others’ ethoses, not duplicating efforts.
So many great ideas 💡. Opportunities, inc after #GE2024, for theatre to power community cohesion; healing through theatre. ❤️🩹
@lewisiwu@stratfordeast@NewhamLondon > @lewisiwu highlights importance of #theatre & #drama as space (as with #oracy & #debate) for us to disagree agreeably. Also links in to ⚽️ 🥅 as social forum. Now onto Stormzy scholarship’s role as model/symbol for change as well as programme in itself https://t.co/EaayDX9STI >
As Scottish end of term approaches, a very busy July/August hopefully looms for me: I made an offer on a property in Galashiels today, as a potential site for @SeeHearTeach to establish a community TV station / education & training centre … aiming to open in Sept if possible!
Such a great meeting this morning with Ashling from @apple in Edinburgh. We’re scoping out big new investments in 🖥 💻 📱 for our mobile TV studio & wider schools work over 2022-23+ 🎥 🎤. Can’t wait to share full details with you in a few weeks 💡…
@Muna_Abdi_Phd Many many thanks for everything you take time, energy, knowledge and skills to share on here. You are making an impact, and Twitter stats never tell the much larger story of how that’s translating into actual positive actions both small and larger in our schools and society.
Our director @mr_raitt is not “in the classroom” & fully supports this message. We have utmost respect in our team of 3 for what classroom teachers do & know. We commit min 0.5 days a week each just to observe you and listen to you. We hear you, but we also have perspectives! :-)
@macca_mjm@SueYoung351 Hi @macca_mjm. As tweet 2 says, many of us do lots pro bono. But it’s vital for equity to offer £. Re charity: most of us see work as vocation. But many charities now run like businesses & ppl/ltd companies may be social enterprises: look at our ethos/MO, not just legal status 😊
I say this here just as I do in the arts: “No pay? No way!”. If someone is on salary in school, uni or other org they can perhaps give time for free. For freelancers, retirees or if we run our own org, please offer us proper £: we can then offer to work for free if we choose >
> Many of us already work a lot pro bono, for orgs that genuinely can’t pay, for passion projects, or if we want to research (I have one such offer going right now, in this link). But TF is defo an org that can pay, and whose own staff enjoy handsome salaries. So they should pay.
Primary teachers: what are your plans for Christmas/December shows🎄🎭🎵? When you start to plan I’d love to hear & offer free Zooms (& poss free actual workshops*) to help. I’m starting work on a free-to-access set of resources for primary drama & this is my big research term! >

TeachFirst asked me to join two 1.5 hour panel sessions as part of its training to students. But for no fee - for free! This is an organisation with an annual turnover of 56m and numerous managers on generous salaries. I declined the request.

> If you use our https://t.co/6ZPjR2WcHe books, we'd love to hear from you about any revisions or additions you'd like made. One of the new offers for 2021 will be cheaper B&W editions of each book; we're hoping to have those available by the start of August.
As Scottish teachers start to think about the new academic year, we're making some revisions to our best-selling series of CfE publications:
