Please DM if you have info regarding the possible location of the true Shia Nizari Ismaili Imam of the Mumini lineage of Imam Amir Muhammad al-Baqir ibn Haydar
Aurangabad was the later capital of the Ahmadnagar Sultanate of the Nizam Shahi dynasty who were patrons of the Imams teaching in their court. Since this was an important historical seat of the Imams, perhaps this is the living Imam's location today.
Imam Shah Tahir persuaded Sultan Burhan Nizam Shah to become Shia, establishing the Ahmednagar Sultanate as a Shia kingdom. He and his sons continued teaching in the courts of Ahmednagar. Due to its historic importance to the Imams, this may be Hazar Imam's present location.
@sajjadkaswani @nubianscribes Muminis follow local shaykhs, not a dai al-mutlaq like Tayyibis. The ghayba was not forewarned, so the need for it is unknown. Perhaps it was originally related to the dramatic shifting political situation in the Maratha Empire and the world around the turn of the 19th century.
@sajjadkaswani @nubianscribes It is like the Tayyibi belief, not like the Twelver belief. There is no one that I know in contact with the Imam, but it is possible, and there may be some indication of this which I am currently researching.
The Mu’mini position is distinct from the Twelver's regarding the occultation of Imams. Twelvers believe the Imam who went into occultation never perished, and he will be the one who will return to lead.
@sajjadkaswani Yes, I believe the Tayyibi Ismailis have the same position in contrast to the Twelvers.
I do not know what the current Imam count is, but I would guess that it is between 45 and 50. At least 40 are known.
@sajjadkaswani @nubianscribes I do not know what the current Imam count, but I would guess that it is between 45 and 50. At least 40 are known. It is a matter of speculation when he will reappear. I pray he will today or at least within my lifetime. Challengingly, the reason of his occultation is unknown.
@marc7dris There are multiple differences including this one to analyze between the accounts. I am not sure why Imam Ruknuddin Khurshah is skipped straight to his son in this source, resulting in a different count.
During our last contact in 1212 AH (1796 AD), the address of the Imam was in India. Please contact if you have any information regarding the location of his successor today.
@marc7dris Not in an organized community but questioners and sympathizers. Recognition of Mu'mini succession was preeminent in Pamir for a long time until relatively recently.
@nubianscribes This is very interesting! I have not heard this before. I wonder how long this belief was perpetuated and if it had a concise label in Arabic. Thank you for sharing!
Happy Imamat Day to the Qasimi Ismailis!
Although you are mistaken regarding the succession of the Imamat, I pray for blessings for you and your leader’s happiness and wellbeing. May this day be a day we all pay special attention to the Imamat.
@Wonderer_003 @muntazireimam84 Good points, I would say that the Twelver seeds were already planted there, but the Mumini Imams were the Sadah of Ahl al-Bayt who tended the sprouts to flourishment with their role in the courts of Ahmadnagar and Aurangabad.
@Wonderer_003 @muntazireimam84 Yes indeed that is very true, and it was Imam Shah Tahir and his sons who played key diplomatic roles in cultivating relations between Safavid Persia and the Deccan Sultanates, facilitating the growth of the Twelver community in the land.
@shiismstudies I don't think they're overly-specialist, but they are some of the only published on the topic. If new to Ismaili studies, you may first want read background about Imam Al-Mahdi and the Imams of Alamut to see the context of previous occultations from https://t.co/sWwkIK79Tz
