VALUE AS AN INDISCRIMINATE CURRENCY

No matter your reservations - or even in the extreme case, your animosity - towards Saudi Arabia, the facts remain unshakable. You may detest their lack of democratic governance, frown at the questionable actions of some royals, or scoff at their choice of allies. For all I care, you may not even be a fan of Islam; you might even be an atheist, yet nations cannot wave Saudi aside. Why? Oil and Natural Gas. That is their value capital, and value has no religion, no tribe, no sentiment.

Here in Nigeria, the same applies. I don’t care your tribe, your religion, your political leanings, your social class, or your private convictions - you cannot ignore Dangote. No, you won’t! The man is practically everywhere. If he is not in your belly as food, he is in your car as gasoline, or in the walls of your house as cement. After oxygen and the President of the Republic, Dangote is arguably the next unavoidable necessity of our daily lives.

Yes, we may retreat into our Dangote-cemented homes and rant about him being a monopolist, an opportunist fattened by government favors. We may curse him out in frustration. Yet, after the rants, we still drive our Dangote-fueled cars, to cool off at bars with Dangote-sugared meals and drinks. That, my friends, is VALUE. And value cannot be boycotted.

What draws nations, investors, and individuals is never the fickle sentiment of love or hate. It is value.

Love or hate the USA, you can’t do without their technology, defense, and financial muscle.

Love or hate India, you can’t ignore their pharmaceutical strength.

Love or hate China, you can’t escape their manufacturing and electronic might.

Love or hate the UAE, you can’t deny their tourism magnetism.

Love or hate Germany, you can’t do without their automobiles and industrial machinery.

Love or hate the Yorubas, you can’t sideline our talent, commerce, culture, and industry.

Somebody shout it loud: VALUE!

So when you see any individual, tribe, or nation perpetually crying foul with the victim card - “Everybody hates us,” “Nobody loves us,” “We are marginalized,” “The world is unfair to us” - the first question they must ask is simple: What is our value capital?

Because here is the truth: Nobody ignores value. Nobody discriminates against value. Nobody hates value. Value is the one indiscriminate currency in the marketplace of nations and men. So nobody hates you - Maybe, you just lack real VALUE.
