was able to share @SelfDefinedApp with someone at work. He used an idiom and then immediately wondered aloud if it was problematic (no). He was thankful and thought it was such a great resource. 👍🏻
I just found @SelfDefinedApp & it's so helpful!
Language is constantly evolving & it can sometimes be hard to keep up. Or sometimes our gut tells us a common phrase might be problematic but we're not exactly sure why.
This is a great resource! https://t.co/xpZmXHFRXK

@jacques_lakan @emkey Thank you for adding this additional nuance! We recognise our own U.S.-centric perspective, so we really appreciate you sharing this. If either of you feel comfortable adding this nuance to the dictionary, we'd love to include it!
We often say "first world problems!" to show we recognise something we're complaining about is pretty silly in the grand scheme of the world's problems
But do you know the origins of "first world"?
(tl;dr: "Privileged problems" often works just as well.)

➕ Mx.
gender-neutral honorific or title of courtesy, equivalent to Ma'am, Madam, Miss, Mr, Mrs, Mrs, Sir.
Gendered titles can often misgender people. Mx. can be a great option to include, but as with pronouns, confirm/get consent to use.
