And just because the gate fidelity is high doesn't mean a quantum processor is useful and can solve commercially relevant problems.
So, what should quantum hardware manufacturers and end users keep in mind when evaluating quantum processors?
I had the pleasure of speaking with @Himadri_SemiQon, CEO and co-founder of SemiQon, about exactly this question as part of a series of deep dives into SemiQon’s advancements.
@SemiqonTech builds quantum processors by trapping electrons or holes within silicon and using their spins as qubits.
Since its founding as a spinout from the Finnish research institute @VTTFinland in 2023 and our last interview on @FutureofCompute, SemiQon has successfully completed several fab runs and started shipping the first 4-qubit chips to research collaborators.
