@SkyNews my heart breaks for the parents and young people who experience this, but until the Government & LAs are willing to invest in and adapt the education system (developed in the Victorian ages!) unfortunately this will continue to happen 💔

Told today by Inclusion Officer that student’s attendance issues required Social Care support, but this couldn’t be put in EHCP provision. Why have the C in it then?! Am I missing something?! #SENCoprobs#secondarysen
Schools aren’t really closed at all. The number of vulnerable and KW children means most classes are open with a reduction in numbers. This causes teachers to do twice the work, teaching those at home and those in school. Misrepresented by the media and the DfE again.
“Be a teacher!” they said. “It will be fun!” they said, and then they made me a social worker, surrogate parent, online technology guru, EHCP plan writer, general dogs body, punching bag and scapegoat for the LA and now a Covid tester! #jackofalltrades#teachingin2020
Dear LA, your ill timed and ignorant deadlines are suffocating me, and crushing my mental health. You would only have to spend half an hour in any school right now to see just how badly you are misjudging this. Yours, one exhausted and depressed SENCo #mentalhealthawareness
Sat and watched a parent cry in sheer despair in a meeting yesterday because of the bureaucratic/pointless red tape the Inclusion Officer was putting in the way of a child getting the support they need, and what did said IO do when this happened? Continued with the red tape. Wow.
@AutisticGirls_ It’s absolutely shocking, completely unnecessary and most of all heart breaking to see the children struggling, lost in the middle of all this!
Why ask if I’m an essential worker when it makes not one jot of difference in the availability or access to tests?! This is a shambles! #COVID19#TestingShambles
Found out yesterday I have an interview for a SEND SLE....any tips would be great appreciated! Covid and bubble related thoughts are consuming me at the moment! 💡🤞🏻 #SEN#SENCo#SecondarySENCo#SENDSLE#covidbubblebrain

I’ve always had this question I can’t shake: Why don’t we have Government ministers in post with experience in their relevant sectors? Imagine if Gavin Williamson had an ounce of experience working within education! I doubt our children would be in this mess! #TrustOurTeachers
@MissVSEN @gfreeman2012 My line manager on SLT is often asked if we can meet need, he then re-directs the conversation to me at which point the case work manager stops liaising. It’s very frustrating.
@MissVSEN @gfreeman2012 It can be tricky to write provisions when the student is transitioning into further education. I completely understand plans aren’t written to dictate provision, so that’s why I prefer to make recommendations for outcomes and provisions
@gfreeman2012 I try my best, head case work manager won’t sit down and meet with me because a. He can’t tie me up in knots quoting lines of the code and B. I’m not a member of the senior leadership team! I’m sure he’ll be keen to have the meeting when I’m no longer writing his plans!
