Dad, husband, MN state senator for Chippewa, Kandiyohi, Renville & Swift counties. Major & Blackhawk pilot in @MNNationalGuard. Pilot @northmemorial Air Care
My district office staff attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the Montevideo Veterans Home today. I was sad to miss it due to votes in DC.
A long time coming and a true community effort. Congrats to committee chair Marv Garbe and all area veterans. Thank you!
It is our duty to help our Veterans recover in every way that we can, including ensuring that they receive treatment instead of jail time for committing low-level crimes resulting from trauma. It was a good day to finally see the Veterans Restorative Justice Act signed into law!
Yesterday was the culmination of years of hard work on behalf of our Veterans that have returned from service with unseen scars and trauma. I was honored to carry this bill to the finish line in my Veterans Committee, but a number of other Senators have worked tirelessly on this.
SOURCES: Final #mnleg deal on Public Safety was cut between @paulgazelka and @melissahortman - gave House DFL 2 more provisions in the bill, Senate agreed to them - that meant July 1st end to @GovTimWalz powers, which House DFL agreed to. #mnleg ended Walz powers not Walz.
We also visited Mr. B’s Chocolates, a renowned chocolatier that imports the best chocolate from Belgium to craft wonderful truffles, caramels, chocolate bars, and other treats.
Brian started Bollig Engineering to help rural communities with their infrastructure needs, and the majority of their projects are in #mn07. All of them are important, but I especially appreciate Bollig’s work in helping the Northwest Angle establish an airport.
Thank you to Brian Bollig for welcoming me and State Senator @SenatorLangMN to his businesses today, located on the @MinnWestTech Campus in Willmar—a center of innovation and economic growth in my district.
Today is a day to show gratitude to our current officers, while also honoring the lives of fallen officers that have died in the line of duty.
To those who serve or have served previously, thank you for all you have done to keep our communities safe.
We need to keep our elections safe and secure. We can protect the election process and ensure EVERY Minnesotan that wants the chance to vote has their voice counted. We can do this simply by implementing provisional ballots and common sense Voter ID laws.
The Legislature approved their fair share of the funding for the Veterans homes in 2018, and in 2019 we approved plans to spend federal grant funds for construction. The federal funding was the last piece needed to get these homes built. https://t.co/7TRjCwwdMX
ATTN SMALL BUSINESS: @mndeed started taking applications TODAY for grants to businesses affected by COVID-19. We passed this bill this week. More than $60 million in grant funding is available for small businesses across Minnesota. Learn more & apply here: https://t.co/g9rMvKbCZ1
Finding EMTs, paramedics, and other health care workers to provide ambulance transfers is becoming a significant challenge for many communities. Today we unanimously passed my bill that begins to address the problem. https://t.co/l6HSQYtlIG
We just passed an important bill that guarantees those workers on the front lines will be eligible for expedited workers' comp if they contract #COVID19 on the job. Read more: https://t.co/TPFBA4FvZ6
We are in unprecedented times that are testing, and will continue to test, the readiness of our state. In light of CDC guidance, the Minnesota Senate will recess until April 14. My office will be open on a limited basis to ensure the safety of staff. More: https://t.co/7f8Y2CO0Ny
Thank you to Cherrish Holland, Mark Peterson, Alyson Keenan, and Amanda Peterson for joining me at the Capitol in PreK-12 advocacy efforts today. Also, a huge thanks to Representative Dave Baker and Senator Andrew Lang for being good listeners. @SenatorLangMN#mnleg#isd345
Members of @WillmarFFA stopped by to meet with me at the State Capitol today. We talked about their awesome successes & the value of ag education in our schools. Thanks to Kaitlin, Julia, Grace, and adviser Lance Brune for making the trip! @MNFFA#mnleg
It was great to meet with Ruth Schmitz, a constituent with @EpilepsyMN! I am the author of the “Seizure Smart” bill to make sure teachers and staff in schools know how to recognize seizures & what to do if it happens to a child. This could save lives!
