We are supporting additional 6️⃣4️⃣ families through @GambiaRedCross resources targeting the most vulnerable.

However, over 1️⃣5️⃣0️⃣0️⃣ households still need shelter & food support.

@GambiaRedCross we thank @EUinTheGambia @ifrc @CruzRojaEsp for supporting the construction of the Emergency Operation center. This has made operation coordination easy

The @GambiaRedCross Emergency Operation Center is where all emergency preparedness, management & responses are coordinated such as the flood situation.

Today, we received the board members of #GRCS to brief them on what has been done & how we’re coordinating the flood response.

Earlier today, @SenghoreAl and team (@GambiaRedCross staff and volunteers) visited floods affected families in #Banjul.

If it continues to rain, more people will be affected.

Our first priority is saving lives & protecting livelihoods + advocacy.

This is race against time before any outbreak of diseases! It is raining in some parts of the country including areas already already under water.

In the wake of the recent floods, residents in Greater Banjul Area are devastated by the severe flooding.

Most of these households are left with nothing and still prone to outbreak of diseases such as Malaria, Diarrhea, Cholera and skin infections

“When Disasters strike, time is of the essence”.

While some of our #volunteers were in the communities supporting #FloodVictims, others were in #Banjul setting up temporal shelter at St. Joseph Senior Secondary school for the victims in Banjul.

In Gambia, numerous households are badly affected by floods. People are stranded in the middle of nowhere, helpless and vulnerable.

Visited fish landing support project sites today. Although the project faced delays due to funding shortfall and other issues, the works are progressing. Racks to dry fish, toilets, clean water, shade space for breastfeeding, stores etc. are being built to support women’s groups.

This morning, the VAD of the @GambiaRedCross received medical items from #Afrimed, #MHF & Matarr Boye to support the upcoming health fair scheduled on Saturday.

The items were received by @SenghoreAl. He commended the VAD for the initiative & thanked the donors for the gesture.
