Switzerland’s decision to release its software as open source is an interesting one and represents a bold approach. While the spirit of the law could be transparency to the taxpayers, it could bring some unforeseen risks if there are no strong security Teams, strategy and controls in place. Having the software released as Open Source will allow adversaries to have direct access to the code in some cases and identify vulnerabilities that can be exploited causing disruptions of all magnitude.
