Saif Abukeshek and Thiago Ávila were abducted over 600 nautical miles from Gaza, tortured by the IOF on an israeli military vessel in Greek waters, and then forcibly transferred to Shikma Prison in Askalan, occupied Palestine.

The zionist regime has no right over the Mediterranean Sea. Its outlaw blockade campaign and their impunity has to end.

We demand the governments around the world pressure for the immediate and unconditional release of Saif, Thiago, and all Palestinian hostages from israeli dungeons.

BREAKING FLOTILLA NEWS: Rome Prosecutor's Office to investigate Israeli kidnapping of flotilla participants; the investigation was launched after three filed complaints, including ones regarding the cases of Thiago Avila and Saif Abukeshek

The Rome Public Prosecutor’s Office has opened an investigation into unlawful detention in connection with the Israeli authorities’ boarding the 22 ships of the Global Sumud Flotilla on the night of April 29 off the coast of Crete in international waters. Three complaints have been filed with the prosecutors at Piazzale Clodio, including two concerning the situation of activists Thiago de Avila and Saif Abukeshek, who are currently in prison and were taken into custody while aboard Italian vessels.

The case also targets unidentified individuals on suspicion of kidnapping, robbery, and causing damage with the risk of shipwreck, according to the report.

⚡️ New: Flotilla Activists Face Death Threats, Sleep Deprivation on Sixth Day of Hunger Strike

Attorneys from Adalah, the Palestinian legal rights organization, visited Thiago Ávila and Saif Abukeshek at Shikma detention facility in Israel on Monday and report escalating psychological abuse and threats.

Thiago reported being subjected to interrogations lasting up to eight hours, during which interrogators told him he would either be “killed” or “spend 100 years in jail.” Both men are held in total isolation, with cells kept under constant high-intensity lighting around the clock, a practice Adalah says is designed to induce sleep deprivation and sensory disorientation.

Thiago also reported being held in extremely cold temperatures. Both are blindfolded whenever moved outside their cells, including during medical examinations, which Adalah called “a gross violation of medical ethical standards.”

Both activists have now entered their sixth day of hunger strike, consuming only water, in protest of their unlawful abduction by the Israeli navy in international waters on April 30.

Adalah noted that interrogations focused heavily on the flotilla itself, “which confirms that the detention is an attempt to criminalize humanitarian aid and solidarity.”

Israel’s decision to register vast areas of the illegally occupied West Bank as “state property” marks yet another de facto annexation move, a blatant violation of international law and a direct extension of the apartheid system Israel imposes on Palestinians.

This land grab will dispossess countless Palestinian families who cannot “prove” ownership under an illegal occupation that has systematically destroyed or denied their documentation since 1967. It formalizes decades of illegal settlement expansion.

At @Amnesty, we have long warned that such measures entrench Israel’s apartheid and perpetuate systematic human rights violations. This is a dangerous escalation that demands urgent international action.

Israel must end its occupation. Annexation, whether by force or bureaucracy, is illegal and cannot be normalized.
