The newly elected Mayor of Arua City Honorable Alionzi Lawrence Dangote committed to supporting the advancement of #SRHR among young people in Arua City.

This was during an advocacy engagement organized by CEHURD and Reproductive Health Uganda (RHU) under the Stand Up for SRHR Project implemented in West Nile Region with support from @OxfaminUganda. He noted that the rate of early pregnancies in the city can only be mitigated through a multi-sectoral approach as different partners come together to have effective solutions to the problem at hand.

“As soon as I am sworn into office, my office will enter into a Memorandum of Understanding with #StandUp Project implementing partners, thereby devising means of working together to address the advancement of SRHR among young people in Arua City,” he stressed.

CEHURD and @RHUganda engage community leaders in advancing access to Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) because these leaders play a central role in planning, budgeting, coordination, and oversight of health services at the local level. Their involvement strengthens the implementation of policies and ensures that SRHR services reach communities effectively and equitably.

CEHURD and @RHUganda with support from @OxfaminUganda are conducting meetings with Education Officials on effective mechanisms to providing comprehensive #SRHR in West Nile Region.

At CEHURD we believe that engaging different district stakeholders in advancing access to Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) among young people in schools is highly important because it promotes a coordinated, supportive, and sustainable approach to addressing the health and wellbeing needs of adolescents and young people.

Schools are key environments for shaping knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors among young people thus the involvement of district stakeholders strengthens the effectiveness and reach of SRHR interventions. This multi-stakeholder approach ensures that SRHR interventions are effective, inclusive, culturally sensitive, and sustainable.
