You are replaceable, until you are not.
If you are trying to build a brand and get to the status where you actually warrant pay for views, then it’s in your best interest to take the worst of it.
They use you, while you are using them.
Early in my career I answered 50-100 personal emails a day to grow a grassroots brand. For free.
WPT asked me to host “Hollywood Homegame” 6 days of work for $250.
They were using me, but I was also using them. If I didn’t do it, someone else would.
I saw the benefit for my own brand to get that exposure, and they “get to” underpay me as a result.
My advice to those wanting to build a brand for sponsorships or access to good streams or private games:
Be easy to work with, accommodating, and a long term thinker.
Take the worst of it until you no longer have to and reap the benefits in the end.
You are replaceable…
Until you are not.
Educate yourself about things. Study hard what interests you the most. Don't worry about what others think of you, that's none of your business. Train your mind to think, doubt, and question. That's how you grow. 🧠
People often come to me and complain that they’re afraid of something.
I explain that being afraid isn’t the problem.
The problem is inaction. Be afraid. But do it anyway.
The fear will make you sharper.
It’s an advantage.
Be humble. Be teachable. The universe is bigger than your view of the universe. There's always room for a new idea. Humility is necessary for growth. 🧠
Seems that the GTO v exploit debate has been reignited. My 2c is that if u have reliable info about villain/pool imbalances it would be foolish not to use it. BUT...
In my experience both coaching & playing poker, the worst downswings are not necessarily the largest downswings. They’re the ones that coincide with other major negative life events unrelated to poker
That’s when a poker player is most vulnerable and susceptible to burning out
Self Improvement can lead to a lot of confusion, pressure, & ultimately not the results u desire. I have spent more than 10yrs reading countless books and trying out all sorts of different routines. I want to share the routines that helped me the most with poker & business.🧵
You don’t need to spend significant amounts of time optimizing your strategy for micro/low stakes
Any strategy that beats mid/high stakes should allow you to blow through the smaller stakes in a matter of months anyway
People are happier to help than we expect.
Data: we overestimate how inconvenienced they’ll feel—and underestimate how valued they’ll feel.
Asking isn't always a burden. It's often an opportunity to help others feel capable and useful.
Seeking help is an expression of trust.
