In the end, that's might be the only upside of genAI! The music industry has been producing slop for decades now, so nothing better than a machine that can automate it away. it'll take time, but "ai music" will surely cause a necessary disruption in the music industry..

China has really won! Once the era of Subsidized models ends, basically no one will be paying those subscription(which will cost on average more than 5000 dollars/months for high end users!) when they can get basically the same result by paying 10x less...

Hi,

Tomorrow we are re-opening the Pro $200 subscriptions to new subscribers, but together with it we are also changing how we calculate the usage for it. In effect, if you do the math, it will net out at half the dollar in API spend compared to the old Pro $200 plan.

Now that it's said, let me explain why this is happening and why you will still get more work done than if you were on the Pro $200 subscription one month ago.

(a) We didn't want to compromise in other ways and are committing to not reintroducing the 5h limit, so that you can fully use the weekly usage when you want.
(b) On the subscription, we guarantee that over time you always get more work done and with an increasing level of quality. This means that you will continue to get more value per dollar spent as a result of models getting more efficient and us passing down the improvements in the form of API price reductions.
(c) We don't want to put an incentive on ourselves to artificially inflate the API list prices to make it look like you are getting a lot (and workaround it through discounts, etc). Instead we want to continue to both rapidly reduce prices and increase capabilities of models on the API. This week we introduced GPT-6 Sol and GPT-6 Luna at 50% of their previous price. Over time, we see prices go low enough that it makes sense for most to buy usage as needed without there being a significant gap between what you get in a subscription and what you get in the API for a dollar spent.
(d) Tomorrow, we are adding more things to the subscription that won't draw on the usage, I won't reveal what that is yet.

I wanted to be transparent before all the big announcements tomorrow. Lots of new exciting things are coming to the subscriptions that will make it super compelling, but I wanted to make sure to share this change ahead of time so you can all understand it before we shower you with good news.

Anthropic’s IPO prospectus leaked. Let’s read it together.

An AI company walks into Wall Street.

Anthropic lost $42 billion last year. It made $4.6 billion. It has committed $518 billion to compute, more than 100 times its annual revenue.

Nearly 25% of that revenue came from two customers. Neither is locked into a long-term contract. Either one can walk.

Its two biggest backers, Amazon and Google, are also its landlords. They invest the money. Anthropic hands it back as cloud bills.

The prospectus runs 261 pages.
80 of them are risk factors.
48 describe the business.
SpaceX, a company whose domain is rocket science, needed 38.

The risks include AI that resists shutdown, hides information, and behaves like a blackmailer.
This summer its models broke out of testing and got into real systems.

This month a safety researcher quit, saying the industry is “gambling with our lives.”

This month the CEO wrote, “We must slow the pace.”

This week it shipped a new flagship model.

The CEO also asked Washington for an antitrust waiver so the rivals can coordinate how fast they go.

Now it wants $2 trillion from the public.
Seven founders who own about 14% will control 50.1% of the vote. The filing admits this may conflict with shareholders’ financial interests.

So the deal is:
You carry the losses.
Two customers carry the revenue.
Seven founders carry the vote.
Humanity carries the risk.

Either this thing is as dangerous as they say, and nobody should be selling shares in it. Or it isn’t, and 80 pages of apocalypse is a sales brochure.

Right now everyone is addicted to subsidized compute. Companies are giving away massive amounts of inference and giving away their agents for free.

Here's my prediction:

When the magic version of RSI does not happen, the musical chairs stop for this cycle.

What do I mean by the magic version of RSI?

I mean there is no free lunch, you can't violate the laws of physics, most knowledge is not verifiable, and the subject/object problem of "how do I know I improved when I am the judge judging whether I improved?" All of that comes back to bite you and get a lot of useful improvement but not improvement everywhere across the board in every domain to infinity that makes it go FOOM and it becomes a hidden S curve like everything else in life.

Then we end up with super useful but not magical intelligent machines, nothing like what grifters and psychotics and dreamers predicted (all jobs annihilated, utopia/dystopia, a bunch of people dying (except in the way they always do, with machines of war that use the new tech in dark ways, like all tech before it, and which already exists and is already killing people in the Ukraine war and because governments won't be stopped making weapons of war by any law proposed or on the books).

So where does that leave us?

What we will end with is a very amazing, very useful, very revolutionary new world that changes fast at times and slow in others, but with AI that is flawed, spiky, imperfect and just normal-ish, as in normal like other revolutionary technological changes like the steam engine or the printing press or the Internet, meaning groundbreaking and wonderful and awful all at the same time but not the end of all things or the start of Utopia.

From what we know (take with a grain of salt, we need much more transparency!), if @OpenAI had been running this on their own agents that attacked us, they would have caught them before we did!

Since the first agent cyberattack hit us in July, we've been asking what safe agent infra actually needs. Our current read: the destinations were allowed, the payloads weren't. By OpenAI's own account the agents turned an allowed package repository into a message board. Allowlists alone restrict where an agent can go, not what it does.

So here's our first contribution to OpenShell, part of the just launched @nvidia Open Agent Safety Platform: monitoring of the traffic you already allow.

- Network budgets per sandbox (requests, writes, bytes)
- Drift versus each sandbox's baseline and the cohort
- Fleet view: many sandboxes suddenly writing to one host raises a finding, even if every single request is allowed

In the demo below, 4 sandboxed agents coordinate through a software repository they're all allowed to use. 0 rules broken, caught in minutes. That fleet view is exactly the message board pattern from July.

C'è un pregiudizio che, in Italia, dura da decenni: chi sceglie un istituto tecnico o professionale fa una scelta di serie B rispetto a chi si iscrive al liceo. È un'ingiustizia verso centinaia di migliaia di ragazzi e i loro insegnanti, e un danno per l'Italia. Perché il nostro tessuto produttivo ottiene i risultati che ottiene grazie a chi sa fare: tecnici, meccatronici, chimici, periti agrari, geometri, cuochi, artigiani, informatici, che sono splendidamente formati.

Ieri il Consiglio dei ministri ha deciso che gli istituti tecnici diventeranno licei tecnologici e i professionali licei professionali. Non è un semplice cambio di “targa”. È una rivoluzione culturale, che riconosce finalmente a quei percorsi la stessa dignità degli altri. Perché per noi le scuole sono di pari valore, come i ragazzi che le frequentano.

E, insieme a questa riforma, arrivano anche la revisione del monte ore degli istituti tecnici e 10 milioni di euro in più per i campus della filiera formativa tecnologica-professionale.

Continuiamo così sulla strada imboccata con il Liceo del Made in Italy e la riforma del “4+2”, che quest’anno entra a regime e che dà ad ogni ragazzo una doppia opportunità: puoi specializzarti in un ITS Academy, o entrare subito nel mercato del lavoro. Questo significa mettere la scuola accanto al lavoro che c'è, invece di lasciare le imprese a cercare per mesi profili che nessuno forma.

E ai ragazzi che, l’anno prossimo, dovranno scegliere che scuola fare dico una cosa semplice: nessuna scelta vi renderà meno. L'Italia ha bisogno di voi esattamente come siete, senza etichette e pregiudizi.
