Tonight begins Tisha B’Av, the day the Jewish calendar sets aside for mourning the destruction of both Temples and two thousand years of catastrophes that gathered around the same date. The rabbis taught that the Second Temple fell to sinat chinam, baseless hatred. Slander did what armies couldn’t.
I don’t believe Mamdani consulted a Jewish calendar before posting his video. The timing is likely coincidence. But the fast lands differently this year.

Because here’s what most of those 55 million viewers never saw: at the 1:40 mark of a 2:13 video, the mayor admits he cannot do the thing he promised. The accusation opens the video. The retreat is buried at the end, where the retention graph says almost no one is left watching.

Jews keep a national day of mourning because we have long experience with accusations that travel faster than any correction can. Fifty-five million views in twelve hours is the largest audience such an accusation has ever found this quickly.

The day exists because accusations like this one have never, in our history, stayed on the page.

Naturally, we think of the Jewish people as a conglomerate of many Jews. But the Baal Shem Tov saw the Jewish people as a single, indivisible whole.
Think of a geometrical point. A point is indivisible, but not because it is too hard, too big, or too small to cut up. A point simply has no area to be divided. That’s what makes it a point.
And yet, from a point you can extend infinite lines radiating in infinite dimensions.
In a somewhat similar way, but far beyond, all Jews are one Jew. Which means that in any one Jew, you will find all of us—just from a different angle.
So that whatever happens to any one of us instantaneously happens to the entire Jewish people. Not by some ripple effect or resonance. But because any one sample of the whole is the whole and the whole is one.
And so, the Baal Shem Tov taught, when the light of any one Jewish soul breaks free, the entire nation is redeemed along with it.
And accordingly, the Rebbe wrote, the ultimate exodus of our entire people is also a personal, intimate liberation for every Jew.

🚨 Gazans who now live in Antwerp, Belgium spoke with Israeli news N12.

One said Gaza should be ruled by Israel, not the PA or Hamas and that civilians uninvolved in terrorism should be allowed to cross to safety while Israel finishes off Hamas.

Another claimed that the Hamas commander who once interrogated him now lives comfortably in Belgium, holds Belgian citizenship, and continues raising money for Hamas from Europe.
