@BRICSinfo US wants to help resolve Russia-Ukraine war, Russia wants to help resolve the US-Iran war, Iran wants to help resolve AnsarAllah-Saudi war
No one wants to help resolve their own war.
What even is this fucking world?
You can contain threats(if there are even any) to national security without shitting on the rule of law.
HH and the UPND govt need to stop practicing what Obama referred to as the color-coded politics of fear, treating patriotism as a possession of one ethnic/political group
Term limits are an important constitutional guardrail against the concentration of power. They institutionalise political alternation, constrain the advantages of incumbency and ensure that succession does not depend on the willingness of a particular President to leave office.
Term limits can be eroded by extending presidential terms, adopting a new Constitution and claiming earlier terms do not count (constitutional reset), redefining what constitutes a term, excluding transitional or partial periods, or restructuring executive office while preserving effective control.
The “constitutional reset” argument is especially popular. A new Constitution may create a new legal order, but it should not erase political time. A person who has occupied the presidency for ten years has occupied it for ten years. Think about the arguments advanced by ECL and the 2016 Constitutional amendment.
Zambians need to avoid looking only at whether the Constitution will (I am resigned to the reality that the Constitution will be reviewed) still say “two terms”, but whether the constitutional meaning and operation of those two terms has been changed.
Attempts to weaken term limits are often defended by reference to a particular individual: that this President is popular, effective, uniquely capable, or still needed. (Think about the worst presidents and how you can still hear this from supporters).
A Constitution is not written for one person. It creates a system of government intended to endure beyond the incumbent and to regulate the exercise of power by people whose character, intentions and restraint cannot be known in advance.
That is why constitutional rules should never be judged only by whether we trust the person who presently benefits from changing them. A system that can be altered to keep a “good” President in office can also be used to keep a bad one there.
In many ways, Zambia is still recovering from the consequences of an excessively concentrated presidency and institutions that were historically subordinated to executive power. To remove or hollow out presidential term limits now would undermines any constitutional or democratic progress. It would risk taking us back towards a political order Zambia deliberately began dismantling in 1991.
A two-thirds majority support (as appears has been achieved) may give the UPND government the power to alter the constitution. It does not, by itself, answer the more important question of whether those rules should be altered. The existence of sufficient power is not, in itself, a justification for its exercise. Constitutional restraint matters when those entrusted with power have the numbers to do what they please, but recognise that they should not.
The United Nations would expel Zambia as a member state before they let Zambia withdraw from the UN and embarrass them like that.
Let's have order, praise singers. You don't represent this entire country!
Don't stop talking about the atrocities of the UPND govt between Aug 13 & 27.
Don't let these patriotic-sounding praise singers gaslight you into letting the govt off the hook.
Keep holding HH's feet to the fire.
There will neither be "third terms" nor "kings" in this country!
But when our laws, our leaders or our government are out of alignment with our ideals, then the dissent of ordinary Americans may prove to be one of the truest expression of patriotism.

If Mundubile, Makebi and others are to stand trial, they should do so at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross, in the presence of God and his faithful servants.
They won't find any justice in Hakainde Hichilema's courts—ones he can just shut down at will.
President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA says the continued decline in inflation is a sign that Zambia's economic reforms are beginning to yield results.

The voice sounds like Mundubile but it's not him. This is a deep fake video made by neither the opposition nor their supporters but those who wish to add substance to the militia/terrorist allegations.
MOSSAD-LEVEL TACTICS
You were quiet throughout the entire petition window, then only resurfaced after the 7 days had elapsed to complain, after showing zero visible effort to actually file. Awe Sir!
We expected some seriousness if the petition was genuinely ready. At least Madam Linda Kasonde made a visible attempt to submit hers. That’s the kind of effort we expected from you too, but you clearly weren't ready to petition.
And by the way… who’s in this video below? The voice and choice of words sound strangely familiar 👀😅.
Must ache 'No. 7' so much—to the very core of his soul that he never got a chance to send 'No. 6' to prison.
He's just going to be taking it out on everyone whose path intertwined with that of 'No. 6' & send them to prison.
But no vundu, "Ine na umunandi" will be okay!
