I use AI for just about anything, I burn through billions of tokens each month.
However, I never use AI for writing. Not because I don't value my own time but simply because good writing requires an original thought. And an original thought requires thinking. And thinking takes time.

I could litteraly write millions of posts a day if all it took was using TTS to build a whole essay.

That isn't to say that AI cannot help the final draft, it definitely does for final reviews or grammar. And I respect that, I do it too.

But to all those who have completely outsourced their writing and thus their thinking...

What does slowing down the frontier even mean?
There’s a good way and a bad way to do it.

There’s only good way for me is to enforce heavy penalties for companies that build models that go totally rogue. That’s it.

Anything involving competitor-reviewed llms or safety guardrails even before the models are built will just lead to cementing the oligopoly.

Everyone seems to think this pacing the frontier situation is about forming an oligopoly. I really don’t think so.
I think it’s because these labs and especially OpenAI are losing control of their models and fully relying on Recursive self improvement. They have no clue what they’re building and want to be able to say “we told you so” when they build something destructive.

@eurochallenges Could not agree more, and very similar background to you, been to over 50 countries by age 28, and yeah it was really cool, but once its over there is little substance left behind. My focus now is on building family and business, nothing else.

@aporia9n Love your takes, and that last part is quite right. I spent time the first 7 years of my career in London and Paris, now moving to South of France at 28 to build software to be more focused and with less noise.
