What you said is exactly what the Iranian people are asking for. If, instead of this costly war—and then seeking agreements, understandings, and negotiations with the Islamist terrorists occupying Iran—the United States had engaged with Prince Reza Pahlavi, whose name millions of Iranians chanted in the streets before they were brutally massacred, and had armed the Iranian people to defend themselves and fight the regime, this crisis could have been resolved by now.

Every day in Iran, we witness the execution of people who oppose the Islamic regime. At the same time, the Islamic regime in Iran sentences people to lengthy prison terms for actions as simple as liking posts by President Trump or Netanyahu. Many have even received long prison sentences for nothing more than posting a brief comment.

Unfortunately, the international community, which constantly claims to stand for human rights, has remained largely indifferent to these imprisonments and executions. More than 50,000 people have been killed in Iran, yet many countries that claim to champion human rights have remained silent.

We, the people of Iran, will not forget who stood with us and raised their voices for us—and who chose to remain indifferent to our suffering.

Only three countries spoke out about the executions and the killing of protesters: the United States, Israel, and Ukraine. The rest chose to remain on the sidelines—or to stand with the Islamist regime ruling Iran—rather than stand with the Iranian people.

But based on my own research—and direct contact with thousands of Iranians—the reality appears to be quite different.

Not only are salaries being paid, but the regime is also handing out cards like the one shown here, allowing its military and security personnel to receive free food and groceries.

Apparently, the regime that “can’t afford to pay its forces” can still afford to keep them well-fed.

J.D. Vance’s claim that Iranians would “flood into Saudi Arabia” if Iran faced a large-scale attack is not just wrong—it reveals an embarrassing ignorance of both geography and Iranian society.

Iran and Saudi Arabia do not even share a land border. And throughout history, Iranians have not fled their homeland in search of a better life in the deserts of Saudi Arabia.

During the 40-day Iran–U.S. war, we saw the opposite: many Iranians returned home. There was no mass exodus. Millions hoped that the war might finally bring an end to the Islamic Republic.

What drives Iranians into exile is not the fall of the Islamic Republic. It is its survival.

If Vance is genuinely worried about another wave of Iranian refugees heading toward Europe and the West, he should understand one simple fact:

The longer the Islamic Republic survives, the more Iranians will be forced to leave their homeland.

Why, during the 40-day war, did the regime’s state broadcaster (IRIB)—a central propaganda hub—remain intact, allowing it to intimidate and threaten people inside the country?
Why, during the war, were the regime’s proxy forces able to enter Iran from Iraq so easily, and why was no action taken against them, despite the fact that targeting them would have required only a single fighter jet?
Why were the regime’s satellite jamming facilities not targeted?
Why were armed paramilitary gatherings in the streets—easy targets for fighter aircraft—not struck?
The people of Iran carry these questions and feel a degree of fear and uncertainty—wondering whether this could be yet another arrangement between the United States and the Islamic Republic, in which protesters are killed while the regime manages to survive for several more years.
