@TanyaSzendeffy@chimney1878 NIMBYs often expect that no one would want to live in these new buildings, but the fact that they keep getting built implies that people are buying. Developers do not invest this much without doing some research first.
@jororofo@mehdirhasan@mattyglesias I think it's worth understanding people on their own terms. Pro lige people are actually motivated by saving babies. This guy is motivated by a desire to help neoliberals beat back Trumpism. That's not a 'moral void'.
@FreedomWethePPL@DavidStaplesYEG People always say no one wants to live in whatever type of housing they're opposing. But then when it gets built, people move in. So it seems like you're wrong. People do want to live in multi unit buildings, as evidenced by the fact that they are typically full of people.
@KeldenFormosa New construction really is ugly, but it's mostly because of NIMBY restrictions on how building can be designed and built. One of the many regulatory issues YIMBYs are trying to solve.
@DoctorVive But we did get a lot of growth in renewables from that. And the shale boom would have happened anyways, they just would have had to build facilities to refine it here rather than exporting it. Green energy is winning on price we just need to let it rip.
I appreciate that a lot of liberals are implicitly conceding now that they did a smear campaign against George W. Bush that was mostly untrue to try to win the 2004 and 2008 elections.
But, ya know, it doesnβt change the fact that you did that and our politics are worse for it.
50k people worked at twin towers and it was a center of global finance. Of course you can make a list of notable people who didn't come to work on any given day.
