"My conception of the strike of the future is not to strike and starve, but to strike and remain in, and take possession of the necessary property of production
Why wait for the Fed Govt? We can create Right to Bargain States now. We cannot miss this opp to empower workers and grow the ranks of unions at the state level. UI is important, but CB is not only better, it’s life changing. #1u
Nice job @yeselson explaining the landmines for unions laid by Taft_Hartley, some of which was only weaponized by employers twenty years later.

New York can be the first state to be a Right to Bargain State, allowing drivers to forge a path to economic and social justice. Luckily we have some elected officials like @dianesavino who see the 21st century model and the importance of industry wide CBAs instead of a purgatory
Today we called on New York State to pass legislation giving drivers the right to unionize. Our organizing wins have already put over $1 billion in drivers' pockets. But now we need the right to bargain so we can stop Lyft and Uber from changing driver terms whenever they want.
Maybe you missed it, but NYC FHV drivers have a minimum wage that WE WON! Now we want NYS to become the first Right to Bargain state in the nation. Don’t listen to medallion owners. Look what they did to taxi workers for 20 years!
@_erikforman@davecraige@veenadubal@CSaid If you really supported a minimum wage you would lead your drivers to go on a strike. But since you're funded by Uber you can't do that.
“For people like us, change has only ever come when we take to the streets.”
A must read from Drivers Guild steward, Uber/Lyft/Juno driver Aziz Bah #1u#UnionStrong https://t.co/ZWDesHs3Xb
Despicable that @NYDailyNews “called for our largely immigrant Guild members to be arrested and have our licenses, our livelihoods taken away if we do it again. All because we came together to organize with our union using what we have, our vehicles — sorry, not sorry.“ -Aziz #1u
In a shocking editorial, @NYDailyNews railed against our Uber/Lyft driver protest this week, calling for members of the Guild to be arrested and have our licenses taken away if we do it again. Today, IDG steward and Uber/Lyft/Juno driver Aziz Bah responds: https://t.co/bkfSn6Wk4C
I am incredibly proud of my team, organizing over 6,000 gig workers to stand up and fight back against the app companies in just a few days. Did you miss the historic moment in NYC when gig workers took over?
As the very first and only worker organization we got concessions from Uber. Did you see the largest ever gig worker action yesterday? Over 6,000 gig workers shut down the greatest city in the world. Did you miss it?
.@davecraige did you not witness IDG just lead the largest ever gig worker protest in American history? We are organizing in the 21st century, and our model works. BTW, how many Walmart and McDonald workers have CBAs?
Proud of @DrivingGuild members for showing in no unclear terms that Uber, Lyft and New York City cannot get away with rolling back our wins. As the largest gig worker Union we will continue to organize.
How @DrivingGuild pulled off the largest gig worker protest yet: "The plan to snarl traffic and protest outside Gracie Mansion was hatched moments after Uber revealed Friday afternoon it would mimic Lyft’s policy of deactivating drivers..." #UnionStrong https://t.co/3zGDARHS68
.@1010WINS reporting it is more than 1,000 drivers in our caravan heading over the Brooklyn Bridge! 💪💪💪When they say log off, we say stand up fight back
“Now, instead of affording drivers a means to supplement their income, @nyctaxi is bizarrely resorting to bureaucratic nonsense that once-again prevents drivers from earning a living wage.
https://t.co/nXkqzS6dla…
App-based drivers are under extreme financial stress and our concerns continue to fall on deaf ears at @nyctaxi. TLC's purported wage increases are failing to meet its own goals and they continue to ignore Lyft's blatant violation of these rules. https://t.co/CsovejXZ1S
Next week @nyctaxi will vote on extending a “vehicle cap” that leaves thousands of low income FHV drivers stuck renting vehicles for thousands of dollars more per year than it would cost to own.
IDG’s Tina Raveneau explained how making that cap permanent hurts immigrant drivers.
This system being proposed is unacceptable and doesn’t address the real life issues drivers face everyday, every hour. As Tina said, “when you vote for our fate remember us. Remember we will suffer” @nyctaxi@DrivingGuild
@nyctaxi@SextonBrendan IDG Member Tina Raveneau gave powerful testimony to
@nyctaxi : "By blocking me from ownership you are not reducing congestion. You are making me a SLAVE to the big fleet owners and app companies."
