Olhu Hiya features a reception area and essential medical facilities, including a consultation room, surgery room, treatment room, quarantine area, as well as spaces to accommodate healthy cats after treatment.

The Male’ City Council was responsible for the construction project, under the Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Welfare, and Mayor Adam Azim previously assured that all efforts to move the cats will be conducted humanely.

The president stated that the hard work begins now, stressing that the completion of the building is just the starting point.
He also encouraged community members to participate in the facility’s programs, fostering a sense of community responsibility toward well-being of animals

Today President Dr. Muizzu officially opened the Pet Care Facility, also known as Olhu Hiya.

While the facility was opened today, operations are to begin later, hopefully by next week.
We look forward to moving street cats to the facility & provide them with the required care.

Today, we installed eight new cat houses in the parking lot of Salman Mosque, generously donated by @alho_nazim 🐈🏠🩵

FISHSTICKS UPDATE
Fishie's visit to the vet in March revealed that he had a radial fracture and a hairline fracture of the ulna. Unfortunately, his active nature delayed recovery, and eventually worsened the hairline ulnar fracture into a fully displaced fracture.
