@MilanoTruffles The problem is there is no world in which *everyone* does something. So by pressing red, you have decided that blue is a casualty. If your solution involves ‘everyone just’ its not a solution at all. Because ´everyone just’ is a statistical improbability that won’t start now.

@moonshade43 @cinnamontoastk Again, it is far better to vote for blue knowing people statistically will for various reasons than sentence anyone to death. Even if it were about money rather than death I can’t imagine voting in a way in which only I would benefit, as by default someone will suffer a loss.

@6Hell6Fire6Joe6 Actually not really. For one thing again collectivist cultures exist and make up a large percentage of the world. They are more likely to put the needs of everyone above those of 1. Additionally studies repeatedly show people tend to think of others and try to work with them.

@Nickname_BT Theres actually studies like this and usually people work together. An example is a study I helped to administer in Uni. It was a computerized El farol bar problem. Go to the bar or stay home. Staying home is null/status quo. 1/

@moonshade43 @cinnamontoastk I think that’s flawed as well. Because again there is no world in which everyone votes uniformly. So therefore even if 50% voted it would be split. Everyone’s vote counts towards survival if voting for blue. Your vote only counts for yourself surviving when you vote red.

@moonshade43 @cinnamontoastk The thing is you aren’t counting on your vote being the deciding one. Only that you’ll help tip the scale so everyone can survive. Because every vote *does* count. So rather than vote red and push it the other way you vote blue to help the collective save everyone.

@runitsukino The thing is that’s not going to happen. Its far easier to have 50% of people press a button than have everyone press another. Pressing blue guarentees everyone makes it out.

@DaTwilightGamer @cinnamontoastk The thing is blue would always win in a large sample size. For one thing collectivist cultures would pick it. For another in the prisoners dilemma it usually worked out that they’d all get median sentences. In subsequent trials they’d work together to get no sentences at all.

@moonshade43 @cinnamontoastk Something left out of a lot of examples is that people tend to try to do what is best for those around them as well. Its why in most of these blue ends up winning. (The larger sample sizes that is.) Also collectivist cultures would press blue without hesitation.

Whether it be because they don’t understand the question or just press randomly someone would. It is far easier to get 51% blue or even 50.01% blue so everyone survives.

@kawagiwirl Most of blue is in two camps. 1:They trust people or 2:They don’t. I am in camp 2. There is no world in which *someone* doesn’t press blue. People could not understand the question or press at random. You can’t convince others before you press. So you press blue to save everyone
