Your hobbies can be personal and private or public and performative (which isnβt inherently bad thing) but I donβt think it can necessarily be both without compromising on one of those aspects
To add to my other post about social media and the performative side (yt vids/achievements) ruining enjoyment of videogames. I was thinking about how it became popular for people to record concerts to rather than being in the moment, and I think itβs kinda the same thing actually
I do wonder with all the gaming discourse on here if games would be more enjoyable if we just disconnected from all social aspects of gaming. No Twitter user opinions. No hunting platinums. No IGN reviews.
Just buying a game then playing it is kinda gone, and thatβs sad.
