It was the Assad regime that released Islamist militants and jihadists from the regime’s prison system with the aim of co-opting and radicalizing the revolution.

It was, in fact, a U.S.-led coalition in partnership with local groups (that your political camp for years has smeared) that defeated ISIS because the Assad regime and its Russian allies were too busy bombing hospitals, schools, and marketplaces to devote any of their military effort on fighting ISIS (a problem that they helped create in the first place.)

Factually incorrect. Political scientists widely argue that under the Assad regime, Syria had entered into the status of a “partially failed state” due to the regime’s inability to control its territory, its complete dependence on the Russian military, and the breakdown of public services and the economy (that was operating as a narco-economy)

Under the current government, Syria has instead entered the status of a “recovering state,” marked by the establishment of a central authority, renewed international diplomacy, and efforts toward economic stabilization.

The Western left’s continued desire to rehabilitate Assad’s image does not erase the objective realities of what’s happening on the ground.

Talk about absolute audacity. This woman was an activist for the PKK and was with the SDF during the battle against the Syrian government. She was carrying a gun, dressed in combat gear, and operating more like a militant than a journalist.

The audacity it takes to go to a foreign country, advocate for separatist movements, join an armed group, and then run to the media and cry “safety concerns” when the government views your presence as a legitimate security issue is astounding.
