Israel is bombarding, literally bombarding, two Middle East capitals, Beirut and Tehran, killing 100s of civilians, and yet the US and UK media continue to portray Iran as the threat to the region.
Israel has nukes, but Iran is the nuclear threat.
We live in Orwellian times.
Today’s military strikes on Iran — carried out by the United States and Israel — mark a catastrophic escalation in an illegal war of aggression. Bombing cities. Killing civilians. Opening a new theater of war. Americans do not want this. They do not want another war in pursuit of regime change. They want relief from the affordability crisis. They want peace.
I am focused on making sure that every New Yorker is safe. I have been in contact with our Police Commissioner and emergency management officials. We are taking proactive steps, including increasing coordination across agencies and enhancing patrols of sensitive locations out of an abundance of caution.
Additionally, I want to speak directly to Iranian New Yorkers: you are part of the fabric of this city — you are our neighbors, small business owners, students, artists, workers, and community leaders. You will be safe here.
Those who claim to liberate Iranian women are rapists and pedophiles hiding behind redactions. There is no moral high ground here. This is an invasion by the US on Israel's command designed to enslave a nation under the pretense of liberating the individual.
There were celebrations in the streets of Baghdad when Saddam fell and then 1/3 of the country fell to ISIS. There were cheers when Gaddafi was dragged on the streets and today Libya is run by militias and slave traders.
I think this would be a great time for Pakistan to focus inwards and start healing the nation by stopping the persecution of our own people - minorities first
Only the innocent die in war. Pakistan exercised extraordinary restraint against out of control, belligerent Zionist-armed fascist India determined on confrontation. The world cannot work the way Israel/India wish it to: no rules, no proof, contempt for law. God protect Pakistan
Even with broken legs, this bull is desperately trying to escape being terrorized at a #RunningOfTheBulls festival.
Suffering like his is exactly why we need to end this death march! https://t.co/F58jr6Lszr
The protests at Colombia are great & all but this morning a mass grave was uncovered at Al-Nasser Hospital & so far they pulled 210 bodies, some were decapitated, some skinned, some with organs stolen. The protests are meant to draw attention to the genocide, not overshadow it.
This is a pretty rare phenomenon for this region, and observed sometimes before big storms and tornadoes in North America. When a storm holds very substantial amounts of water/ice/hail it starts scattering blue light. If that also coincides with late afternoon orange/reddish glow from sunlight, the droplets will appear green.
First time for many people seeing this live.
Here’s a very good example why Signal-free corridors only increase peak hour congestion:
This is the Cavalry ground to Walton road intersection. In the early 2000s (first image), there were 5 roads that merged into 4, which turned into 3 as one exited to Faisal Ghumman Road. Here 1️⃣ & 2️⃣ were timed separately so traffic passed with minimal choking.
Then in early 2010s, the road coming from Cavalry was made 4 lane, and these became 3 as they turned. In total 6 lanes were now merging into 4. Still 1️⃣ & 2️⃣ moved with breaks, so traffic cleared without choking, and rush was broken down.
A U-turn was added to the above, to clear out one of the lanes going North, and this traffic moved along 2️⃣ while rush from 1️⃣ still was broken down. But here, the lane merging was already become complicated. 5 lanes merged into 3.
Today, after LDA’s latest gift, all the traffic moves together as 1️⃣ with no pauses to let lanes clear out. Now 6 lanes become 3. The 60 seconds that were spent on the intersection are now spent figuring out which lane to merge into. You will probably get to home at the same time as you did a year back, but with additional risk of an accident.
Besides all of this, if you are on a bicycle or walk to commute, your life-expectancy has also probably gone down.
