Around 8 pm, after dinner, we ended up driving through the quiet darkness toward the Eystrahorn Mountain.

Eystrahorn is one of those places that doesn’t even feel real — wild, jagged, and impossibly dramatic, rising along Iceland’s southeastern coast.

And then it happened.
