Vincent Pastore, known for playing mobsters in film and TV, most notably Salvatore “Big Pussy” Bonpensiero on HBO’s The Sopranos, has died. He was 80. The veteran actor was found dead in his Bronx residence today, Aug. 1, by a neighbor after he had not been heard from for the past three days. The circumstances surrounding his death are being investigated.

I first heard the Teddy Boy EP in 2006, when everyone was going crazy for Ed Banger, and French electro felt like the most exciting music in the world. Kavinsky’s sound stood apart even then.

While everyone was relying on distortion and noise he had fast pedal to the metal arpeggiated synths, and dripped in 80s style with his aesthetic.

That first EP was the blueprint for the 80s synth music revival and changed my life forever.

Thank you for the music, Vincent.
