@k12careers@educator4ever36 True but there are many careers where the harder jobs pay less and are in more demand. Getting a secondary degree is typically more challenging too.
@BoBromhal@educator4ever36 Exactly. I would love to see a longitudinal study starting in k5. When did it start? How bad? Compare schools with and without. Does it impact future? We’ve got to stop 8th graders who can’t read or do math. We are still failing the children
@MrPitbull07 Businesses are forcing their labor onto consumers. Older folks can’t do it so now we have to do it for ourselves and them. And if they’re blind or hard of hearing it’s even worse.
@educator4ever36 I don’t blame parents I blame the administrations that give into them - explicitly and proactively. Every walk of life requires you to say no sometimes. Man up
@educator4ever36@apsupdate@BOEAPS@apssupt I’m betting a lot of this graduation is through credit recovery. Our district’s projected graduation rate is around 81% heading into May every year and then magically jumps.
@PelicanatAnchor@Jaredkotter True. My husband needs a work truck and he large trucks all seem to have proprietary navigation, Car Play or both. None of them are very good. He expected more after driving my Tesla.
@educator4ever36 They don’t want to know but that doesn’t change that grading should be reflective of what a child has learned - at every grade. The poorest, busiest parents should know if a child can’t read but they’re not going to know if they’re behind if they’re getting all A’s.
@BasedRedWolf Too often I see administrators blame the school board when the board is unaware of tte problem. Put it on the agenda and discuss it in public. The board is there to take the heat. And probably paid too.
@BasedRedWolf They should point parents right back to the elected school board. They passed the policies and I assume there is a book complaint process that can escalate to them. This can be done without being accusatory- just supply the facts.
@Cryptoboyy_Aji So his son maxed out the amount of fed money he could borrow? Where does he go to school? What is his major? Did he use any of the loans for something other than tuition?
