🏆 @SGI_CANADA PROVINCIAL PLAYOFFS CHAMPION
DIVISION ➡️Under-18 AA
TEAM ➡️Saskatoon Riverkings
Kudos to Regina Capitals for forcing OT in Game 1 and keeping the score close in Game 2 of this final. After the final buzzer, Saskatoon claimed back-to-back banners in this category.
In 6 of the 9 Riv playoff games the opponent was kept to two goals or less. Yes the goaltending was great, but the six defensemen in front of them had much to do with that. Caiden Stratychuk, Wyatt Jordan, Carter Stolte, Bryden Larsen, Logan Hynd and Koen Giasson.
Provincial Champs has a nice ring to it! Regina Capitals, a well coached hard working and disciplined squad put up a great fight and came up just short. Rivs win 2-1. The strength of the squad was depth everywhere, and it showed over an 8-1 playoff run.
The backbone of the Rivs! Blake Mercier and Reid Wassermann, great teammates that pushed and supported each other all season long standing tall in net. Reg season and playoff record of 36-4-1-1 doesn’t happen without these two.
Provincial final best of three starts tonight. Regina Capitals in town to take on your Riverkings squad, 8:00 puck drop at Merlis Belsher. It will be the first time these first place teams play each other and should be a great series. Come cheer on the Rivs!
Congratulations to the @RiverkingsGSHL on winning the U18AA North Division title last night for the 2nd straight season!
The Riverkings edged the Saskatoon Crunch in two straight OT games.
Excellent hockey by both teams!
Good luck to the Riverkings in the Provincial Final!
Incredible series, Riverkings win in OT 4-3 to advance to the provincial final. Hard fought games, with skilled, physical hockey but played clean. Crunch fought back from two goals down in the third to force OT.
Look who is in the pipes tonight for the Kamloops Blazers!!!
Logan has stymied many a shooters over the past two years as he owned the crease for the @saskcontacts.
Best of luck to Eddy in his first WHL start.
