State religion of the Maldives is IsIam, and doctrine is Sharia.

Only Sunni MusIims are allowed to hold citizenship in the country, and citizens may practice only IsIam. Non-MusIim citizens of other nations can only practice their faith in private.

Maldives is quickly becoming a hub of radicaIism, as evidenced by having had the highest per capita number of foreign fighters for ISIS among any nation.

A few months ago, the US designated 20 Maldivians as facilitators and operatives of ISIS and al-Qa'ida, alongside 29 associated companies, many of which operated in the tourism industry as proxies. They were planning attacks targeting journalists and local authorities.

Why would anyone in their right mind consider visiting such a country for tourism? Most likely, the money spent by you there will be used in some way for crimes against humanity.

North-East. Deep in the jungles, a young company commander ignores the sounds of the jungle. He waits with his soldiers in an ambush. He has received intelligence that terrorists are planning the next big attack somewhere in his area of responsibility.

Siachen. Minus 60 degrees. 20,000 feet above sea level. Frozen winds howling at 100 kmph. A soldier checks his weapon, scans the area in front of him for the hundredth time and gives an “all okay” report to his platoon commander.

They will not sleep. Not this night or the next. Or the nights after that.

In a village somewhere in India, a widow holds her two young children close to her. She points to a photograph on the wall. She tells them about their father who laid down his life for the country. She tells them that one day they will wear the uniform and follow in the footsteps of their father and serve the nation.

This is what our soldiers undergo every single day.

This is the price of our freedom.

Today, spare a thought for the soldier. He is willing to die for you and he doesn’t even know who you are. That you are Indian is enough for him. And for that reason alone, he will sacrifice himself and his family for you.

My New Year resolution is to be an Indian worth fighting for.

472 years after the #RamMandir was destroyed on Babar’s orders and Babri Masjid built on its ruins, Hindu sadhus and kar sevaks marched unarmed to reclaim the heart of their faith, Lord Ram’s janmabhoomi or birthplace in Ayodhya.
Every time the police fired tear gas or beat devotees with sticks, they bent down to touch the cops’ feet.
The police backed up a bit. The devotees proceeded.
Then orders came from Mullah Mulayam Singh to start firing.
The devotees didn’t budge.
Official figures say 17 were killed. Reports put it at 40-60. Bodies were surreptitiously immersed in the Sarayu river.
Now imagine Muslims facing this in an Islamic nation.
THIS IS RESISTANCE.
