Khairpur: Pakistan Peoples Party central leader and MNA Dr. @ShahNafisa Jillani visited Faiz Mahal, Khairpur, to offer her heartfelt condolences to Prince Mir Mehdi Raza Talpur on the passing of His Highness Mir Ali Murad Khan Talpur, former ruler of the State of Khairpur.
@ShahNafisa
I am deeply grieved to learn of the passing of Mir George #AliMuradKhanTalpur II, the last ruler of the former princely State of #KhairpurMirs which is now one of the largest districts in #Sindh.
Ascending to gaddi of #Khairpur in 1947, when he was only 14 years of age, #MirAliMurad peacefully and with great dignity over saw the transition between a royal legacy and the modern history of #Sindh and #Pakistan. He signed the instrument of accession and finally state merger with #Pakistan in 1955. Educated at #AitchisonCollege and the #UniversityofCambridge, Mir Ali Murad was humble, gentle, extremely private but with an unwavering sense of public duty, and deep commitment to the welfare of the former state citizens.
Under his stewardship, #KhairpurMirs earned recognition as a progressive princely state, championing free education, universal healthcare, social welfare programs, agricultural development, and industrial modernization, laying foundations that improved the lives of countless citizens.
The #Talpur legacy is a powerful one and lives in historical memory of the people of #Khairpur. Schools, canals, shifakhanas and our unique architectural and natural heritage, the #KotDiji Fort, #FaizMahal, #SheeshMahal and #WhitePalace and #Mehrano bear witness to the their timeless contributions. The last ruler’s passing formally closes a chapter in the history of Khairpur, and even #Sindh and #Pakistan. My sincere condolences to Prince #MehdiRazaTalpur, his family and to the people of #KotDiji who love and revere the #Talpur family

With profound sorrow, we mourn the passing of His Highness Mir Ali Murad Khan Talpur II, the last ruler of the former State of Khairpur.
He ascended as the ruling Mir in July 1947, at the age of just 14. Barely weeks later, on 3 October 1947, the State of Khairpur acceded to Pakistan, becoming one of the earliest princely states to join the new country.
Khairpur retained its status as a princely state until 1955, when it was merged into West Pakistan under the One Unit arrangement. Khairpur subsequently became a divisional headquarters, one of the three divisions covering the Sindh region at the time.
His passing closes a remarkable living link with the history of Khairpur, Sindh and the formative years of Pakistan.
His legacy and his lifelong association with Khairpur will be remembered with honour and respect.
May Allah Almighty grant him the highest place in Jannah and give strength and patience to his family and loved ones.

In the face of formidable obstacles and political turbulence, Chairman @BBhuttoZardari has steered the party forward with the unparalleled courage of Shaheed Mohtarma #BenazirBhutto, the undaunted warrior spirit of his grandfather, Shaheed #ZulfikarAliBhutto and wisdom and resilience of #President #AsifAliZardari.
Wish him all the prayers to continue the long and arduous political journey - with devotion to democratic ideals, and an uncompromising commitment to the people as he and we the party mark his 38th birthday #HappyBirthdayBilawalBhuttoZardari #HBDBilawalBhuttoZardari
PM of Malaysia @anwaribrahim exposing Indian propaganda, in India on Indian tv. The truth is India started a war based on a lie and lost miserably. India now stands exposed internationally. India must live up to its commitments made at the time of the ceasefire; to discuss all friction points with Pakistan. So we can together bring peace, prosperity and stability to our region.
Karachi Is Integral to Sindh - Not by Accident, but by History.
Miftah’s column offers an interesting tour through Sindh’s changing rulers, dynasties and frontiers. But read as a whole, it risks creating the impression that Sindh’s historical identity was fluid enough to make Karachi’s place within it somehow contingent or recent. The longer historical record points in a different direction.
The territory and coastline of present-day Karachi formed part of the historical geography of Sindh long before the modern city emerged. During Raja Dahir’s period, the lower-Indus coast — including the region of present-day Karachi — was part of Sindh, whose great maritime gateway was Debal.
Then came a defining civilisational moment. In 711–12 CE, Islam entered the Indian subcontinent through Sindh with Muhammad bin Qasim’s conquest. That is why Sindh has for centuries been remembered as Bab-ul-Islam — the Gateway of Islam in this region. More than 13 centuries later, that history remains deeply embedded in Sindh’s identity.
Sindhi itself is one of the subcontinent’s oldest living Indo-Aryan languages. Historical tradition records that as early as 883 CE, the Qur’an was translated into Sindhi — among the earliest known translations of the Qur’an into an Indian language.
From Raja Dahir and Arab Sindh onward, Sindh retained a remarkably distinct territorial and political identity for more than thirteen centuries — at different times as a kingdom, emirate, province within larger empires, state under successive dynasties, and later a distinct British administrative territory. Soomras, Sammas, Arghuns, Tarkhans, Kalhoras and Talpurs all ruled entities recognised as Sindh.
Rulers changed. Empires changed. Sindh endured.
Karachi was part of Sindh under the Kalhoras. Its control by Kalat was only a brief historical interlude of roughly 13 years before the Talpurs recovered it in 1795.
Thereafter, Karachi remained part of Sindh through Talpur rule and throughout the British period. When Sindh regained separate provincial status in 1936, Karachi was its capital.
And then came perhaps one of the most important democratic milestones in the Pakistan movement.
In 1943, from Karachi, the Sindh Legislative Assembly became the first elected provincial legislature in British India to formally endorse the demand for Pakistan.
In 1947, Sindh entered Pakistan with Karachi as its capital.
That history carries particular significance for a country created as a Muslim homeland: Islam first entered this part of the subcontinent through Sindh, and more than twelve centuries later Sindh’s elected legislature became the first provincial assembly to formally endorse the demand for Pakistan.
Yet only afterwards, in 1948, Karachi was detached from Sindh through an undemocratic central decision, against the wishes of Sindh’s elected representatives and people. Seven years later, One Unit carried the same centralising mindset much further — again imposed from above rather than arising from the democratic will of the provinces.
So the historical sequence is precisely the opposite of any suggestion that Karachi’s connection with Sindh is recent or accidental:
Karachi did not join Pakistan separately and later become part of Sindh. Karachi entered Pakistan as the capital and integral part of Sindh — and was subsequently taken away from it.
A brief change of sovereignty cannot erase more than a millennium of geographical, political, cultural and constitutional continuity.
From Bab-ul-Islam to the Pakistan movement and beyond, Karachi is woven into Sindh’s history — and remains integral to its identity.
Heartiest congratulations to all the newly elected office-bearers of PPP District #Khairpur.
May you serve the party with dedication, unity and commitment, and play your part in further strengthening the Pakistan Peoples Party at the grassroots level.
Wishing all the new office-bearers great success in their new responsibilities.

Today, on #DefenceDay, let us honour the extraordinary bravery of our soldiers. From guarding our borders against external aggression to combating terrorism, insurgencies, and internal turmoil, their resilience is undeniable.
Yet, history teaches us that the ultimate shield of any nation is not just military might, but the unity between the defenders and the defended. True national strength and enduring peace are forged when our brave forces stand firmly anchored to the Constitution, submitting to the ultimate will and sovereignty of the people. #DefenseDay2026 #ArmedForces
@BBhuttoZardari brings with him a strong legacy- of #ShaheedZulfiqarAliBhutto the architect of the #1973Constitution, of #ShaheedBenazirBhutto who fought dictators and restored the Constitutional order, and #President@AAliZardari,
icon of political tolerance and patience. #PPP the party he leads is ultimately the party that restores democratic order and strengthens the constitution. It is time to restore politics. It is time to push back hybrid power that has sown seeds of difference and dissension in #Pakistan. It is time for dialogue and a renewed push for democracy and constitutionalism #SindhisOne #Federalism
Welcome to Larkano, the City of Martyrs, CM KP. Best wishes for the remainder of your tour across Sindh.
We must ultimately return to a politics of tolerance, respect and coexistence, the foundation of any democracy.
Congratulations to the #SindhAssembly on passing this historic and unanimous resolution. In a powerful display of parliamentary democracy, every voice, language, ethnicity, and shade of Sindh’s rich diversity stood united. Despite all differences, the Assembly reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to preserving and protecting the unity and integrity of Sindh, firmly rejecting any plan, idea, or proposal to carve out new provinces in its territory. Sindh’s diversity is its strength, and its unity is non-negotiable. #SindhisOne #PPP #JiyeBhutto #PakistanZindabad
Sindh is one and shall remain one.
The Sindh Assembly has once again spoken clearly and unanimously.
Sindh is not an administrative convenience to be redrawn from Islamabad. It is a historic federating unit that played a foundational role in the creation of Pakistan.
The 1940 Lahore Resolution envisaged Muslim-majority regions as “independent states”, with their constituent units “autonomous and sovereign.” In 1943, the Sindh Legislative Assembly became the first provincial legislature in British India to formally demand the creation of Pakistan.
That history matters.
Pakistan’s federal structure cannot be redesigned through a few television anchors, slogans and limited public debate. Such fundamental questions belong to the people and their elected representatives. And the people of Sindh have spoken through this resolution — as they have through several earlier resolutions.
If governance is failing, fix governance. There is a genuine need to debate the real causes of governance failure and address them.
But do not confuse devolution with division.
Pakistan will become stronger not by weakening or fragmenting its historic federating units, but by respecting the constitutional compact, provincial autonomy and the democratic consent of their people.
Fix dysfunctional governance. Don’t redraw Pakistan.
