Dear @kunalkamra88,
Here's an open letter from someone who was jail'ed for posting a meme online.
It was on this very day- 7 years ago (3rd April 2018)
I write to you not just as a fan, but as someone who has lived through the cruel irony of our times. Five years—that's how long it took for the Courts to quash the case against me.
It took me five years of court dates, legal battles, and the weight of an accusation that should have never existed in the first place. All because of a meme. A 30 second clip which featured Chief Minister's own words in a state assembly.
I always believed that humor was the great equalizer, a tool that allowed the powerless to speak truth to power, to laugh in the face of oppression, and to find common ground in the absurdity of life. But for me, humor became a prison cell, both literal and figurative.
I won’t pretend it was easy. The system didn’t just punish me; it tried to break me. The legal ordeal drained my time, my resources, and my spirit. My family lived in fear, my friends whispered my name like it was a curse, and every knock on the door felt like another summons to defend my right to express myself.
But here I am. Free, though not entirely unscathed. And here you are, standing on stage, wielding the same weapon that nearly destroyed me. I admire you for it. Because laughter is defiance, and every joke you tell reminds me that they may have taken my years, but they will never take my voice.
Yet I can’t help but wonder—what if they come for you next? What if the wrong joke reaches the wrong ears? What if the same fate awaits another who dares to poke fun at those who believe themselves beyond ridicule?
I don’t want silence. I want a world where no one has to fear the consequences of humor. Where satire is not a crime. Where comedians don’t become political prisoners, and memes don’t lead to arrests.
So keep making people laugh. Keep pushing boundaries. And maybe, just maybe, if enough of us refuse to be silenced, the next person who shares a joke won’t have to spend five years proving their right to do so.
Adding the article that saved me for taking my life during my jail days @asrpmukeshTOI, if i could go back, i would've scratched my b*alls that resembled the very person i offended (no pun intended) and rested for a little more in the very Birsa Munda Central Jail, Hotwar.

Sir please ensure proper management at vaccine centres. The staff number and registeration counters were too less for people to follow covid protocol. Took me 1.5hours to get my mother vaccinated.
