We’re pleased to announce that our @FutureLearn#ShakeLangCourse will be facilitated again this year for 4 weeks! From 5th Sept, we’ll be online and ready to help you explore Shakespeare’s language through corpus methods! 💻📚 https://t.co/1J8sCf9pFu
Shakespeare is usually associated with powerful language, but what if we viewed his work through numbers?
Our new blog by @j_culpeper explores using computers to identify large-scale and subtle patterns in Shakespeare’s language: https://t.co/V2l39hEhNQ

Corpus linguistics is a branch of linguistics which uses computers to explore the use of words in huge collections of language.
Experts examined 20,000 words gleaned from a million-word corpus of Shakespeare’s plays.

25 years of preparation, 25 researchers, and seven years of hard work, and we finally know: dinner happens at midday (according to Shakespeare, anyway). Inevitably, a thread ⬇️ 1/5
And yes, he did have thoughts on the dinner vs supper debate
All of this, and more, is covered in this excellent thread by the research funder, @ahrcpress 👇

Last week, the 25-year-long @ShakespeareLang research project, by our amazing @LAEL_LU academics, saw the publication of an encyclopedia of Shakespeare's words and nuances 👏

Spending a couple of days in London between #CL2023 and #IPrA2023. Following yesterday’s @ShakespeareLang encyclopedia launch, we couldn’t resist a trip to @The_Globe! ⭕️📚
I guess the launch of the first volumes of @ShakespeareLang is a good opportunity to mention that one of the long term goals of _this_ project is to undertake a similar project for Tolkien. The Tolkien Glossary project is the starting point. More information soon.
Being a small part of the @ShakespeareLang project was one of the highlights of my time at @LAEL_LU. Holding the encyclopedia for the first time earlier this week was really special. Congratulations to @j_culpeper, @HardieResearch and @JJDemmen on these first two volumes!!
Glad to capture those happy moments at the launch of the Arden Encyclopedia of Shakespeare’s Language at #CL2023
Congratulations to @j_culpeper@HardieResearch @_paulbaker_ @perayson and all the contributing team
A celebration of some of the fabulous names that helped with the Arden Encyclopaedia of Shakespeare’s language during the last session of #CL2023 🥂@j_culpeper@HardieResearch et al 📖
Last session of #CL2023 was the launch of this magnificent opus. Sadly, I will be none the wiser as to how 'publikely', a variant of 'publicly' in Shakespeare's time, would have been pronounced, but you can't have it all. Now off to Liverpool to visit old friends so... pub likely
