@EcoSoc3315 This article goes very much in hand with what my group discussed ad the racial ties that are found in ecological issues and environmental change progress. There is more in store this past year than just climate change as we are also in a pandemic.
Op-ed: We are in the midst of an environmental racism perfect storm, where COVID-19, gross disparities in exposure to pollution, and the constant impact of climate change combine to ravage minority and low-income communities. https://t.co/cRO4NpCXev via @thehill
@BloomfieldCole@EcoSoc3315@EcoSoc3315 what plan do you have to reach out and find a consensus with them? If they are deniers now, what will help them see the reason behind the facts and why there needs to be a push toward a greener future.
@EcoSoc3315 A scary article of how the "last" American Frontier will not last during this ecological crisis. Melting glaciers are only part of the Alaskan wilderness issue.
Due to rising global temperatures, glaciers in Alaska are shrinking and thinning, impacting salmon streams. Warming temperatures also have fueled successive outbreaks of spruce bark beetles that razed the region’s forests. https://t.co/ZD7LZYhR87
The villagers in Zogota & surrounding villages protested an iron ore project co-owned by the mining companies Vale, the world’s top iron producer, & BSG Resources. The activists’ protests included a sit-in near the mine site & destroying company equipment.

@BloomfieldCole@EcoSoc3315@EcoSoc3315 if you are to look at what Holthaus wrote we are at a point where we can make lasting change and correct the damage done if we just band together. He gives a detailed 30 year plan to do just this.
@EcoSoc3315 really interesting article that targets what could be the cost of carbon capture along with the benefits and weighs the overall output that can be achieved.
Is carbon capture and storage a climate solution or an excuse to extend the life of fossil fuels? The issue may get a lot more attention under a Biden administration and a divided Congress.

@Caseyjhamilton@EcoSoc3315@EcoSoc3315 I definitely agree with this. I know from my perspective, climate change has reached a forefront during our time in school while our parents did not have much knowledge of it.
@BloomfieldCole@EcoSoc3315 I think a Biden presidency even with a republican senate would allow for a more propínate advocate for climate change to be at the helm of this country
@SungHanKang1@EcoSoc3315 true about Coca Cola being the largest plastic use but this could be their pivotal change. Pushing the public mindset to paper use would help but I think using 100% reused paper would be the best sell.
@EcoSoc3315 another article tackling over fishing and capitalistic impact on the ecosystem. Changes must be made to the mentality behind consumer products to ensure continued use.
A public detached from the lives of sea creatures is under the impression that agriculture will release us from the harms of overfishing. Consumers unwittingly think there’s always another fish for sale in a world of infinite goods. https://t.co/Wudmooap7o
@sarahkchappell@EcoSoc3315@EcoSoc3315 I agree with you on this Sarah. I think trying to transition our society away from capitalism will shift the attention away from environmentalism. Fixing the system we have and implementing change to the corporations involved with mass pollution could be the way
@EcoSoc3315 this could be a great innovation and ecological boost but I do not believe their plan or hundreds of turbines is necessarily a good thing. It would disrupt the natural look o Lake Erie and their is potential or harm to migrating birds
A Cleveland-based offshore wind pilot project is on the verge of becoming the first freshwater wind farm in North America. But fierce opposition, including hundreds of thousands of hidden fossil fuel dollars, still threatens to doom the project.

@Caseyjhamilton@EcoSoc3315@EcoSoc3315 I completely agree. Things need to be framed in their respective areas to show the full scope of issues. This is even with environmental issues and where problems arise
@sarahkchappell@EcoSoc3315@EcoSoc3315 super cool article @sarahkchappell ! Thanks so much for sharing. It’s really interesting reading about the different ways smaller businesses in energy are doing their part to not only help climate change but also underserved communities
@EcoSoc3315 global warming has to be stopped soon to prevent things such as this from occurring. This just shows the acceleration we have caused will drastically increase unless changes are made
The vast permafrost regions of the Arctic hold more carbon than the Earth's atmosphere, and if it’s released, it would dangerously accelerate global warming. A new study says that could happen with just a few degrees of warming.

@EcoSoc3315 it’s very reassuring to see coal drop further down the list of energy sources and the predicted decrease is very promising for climate change
@sarahkchappell@EcoSoc3315@EcoSoc3315 I don’t know much about the financial status of the Napa wine region but I do believe the wild fires have destroyed years of crops especially for wine folk. I do think they could apply pressure in California for further change but nationally would be harder
@EcoSoc3315 super cool new innovative way to curb climate change and decrease emissions. It’s really interesting seeing how other countries are curbing their emissions and finding ways to still use what they have now but become better in the process
Cheaper, safer and better for the environment, an effort to recycle emissions of a climate super pollutant by a Chinese chemical company will reduce greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to taking nearly 400,000 cars off the road.

@Dev40417195@EcoSoc3315@EcoSoc3315 This is a great article that highlights a different way to go about “recycling”. This way it is a biológica source that will remove the needs of plastics in the future. I do think further testing on how these bacteria interact with other stuff.
