Hon’ble Minister for Health and Education, Ms. Sakina Itoo, along with Hon’ble Minister for Agriculture, Mr. Javeed Dar, today visited Government Medical College (GMC) Handwara where they met with the injured persons and students who were admitted following yesterday’s tragic incident at Behnipora, Rajwar

The ministers were accompanied by Senior Leader Choudhary Mohammad Ramzan, Director Education G. Nabi Itoo, Joint Director Hakeem Tanveer, Chief Medical Officer Kupwara, Principal GMC Handwara, and other senior officials.

Later, the dignitaries visited Bakhikher to express condolences at the residence of Late Teacher Irshad Ahmad Lone, who lost his life in a tragic road accident yesterday. They prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul and strength to the bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss.

Meanwhile, the Assistant Transport Department Kupwara provided financial assistance to the bereaved family by handing over a cheque of ₹50,000 as immediate relief.

In a major success against anti-national activities, security forces today apprehended a terrorist associate during a joint Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) in village Marsary, Chowkibal, Kralpora.

The operation was jointly launched by 05 PARA, 160 Territorial Army, 98 Bn CRPF, Special Operations Group (SOG) Kralpora, and Police Station Kralpora based on specific intelligence inputs regarding the movement of a terrorist associate in the area.

During the operation, one individual identified as Wali Mohd Mir S/o Mohd Sadiq Mir R/o Marsary was apprehended. Upon search, a huge cache of arms and ammunition was recovered from his possession, which includes:
•01 AK-56 rifle
•03 AK-56 magazines
•1150 rounds of AK-56 ammunition
•17 UBGL grenades

Preliminary investigations reveal that the apprehended individual was working as a terrorist Associate for proscribed terrorist outfits and was involved in facilitating the movement of arms and ammunition to active terrorists in the region.

Accordingly, FIR No. 53/2025 under relevant provisions of law has been registered at Police Station Kralpora, and further investigation is underway.
