@OT_rach For women with #uterinefibroids periods can be debilitating. Heavy bleeding, pain, missed work/study, irregular periods, lack of access to adequate toilet facilities etc. Such conditions are often brushed over by medics so not surprising theirs a lack of input from AHPs. #OTalk
@EmmaLairdOT Learning specific coaching approaches would be advantageous and would help with developing confidence in explicitly delivering coaching as intervention #OTalk
@EmmaLairdOT #Otalk I’m not currently working in an OT specific role but I do work in a young peoples setting. We use coaching daily to encourage students to understand their strengths and navigate their difficulties whilst finding their sense of purpose at the same time.
After putting in so much effort with lifestyle changes I felt slightly despondent to find out that the fibroids we’re still the same size. But...yes the fibroids have not shrunk but they have not grown either so Im gonna keep on at it! https://t.co/TfU5I93DAY

@OT_rach I think coping strategies is definitely an important one. But again it depends on what level of insight clients already have, so diary keeping, symptom monitoring over the cycle, lifestyle changes, signposting etc may need to be included.

Lovely case study/ reflective piece on working with stroke patients with hemianopia. This piece also highlights the limitations of working with patients due to departmental restrictions https://t.co/jrB2G4UFN2
