Yesterday, I took an Uber in New York. The driver was an Egyptian Muslim who has been living in the U.S. for 35 years.

He heard me speaking Arabic on the phone, which led to a conversation about how great America is and how, as a foreign-born citizen, he’s treated equally.

I explained to him how Islamic countries could reach the level of freedom and prosperity the U.S. enjoys, and I mentioned how Christians in Egypt live as second-class citizens and face persecution.

Since he had just praised how equally he’s treated in America, I expected him to agree with me. Instead, he became defensive, justifying the persecution of Christians in Egypt, and went on to say that Egypt should apply Islam and Sharia more fully, claiming it’s “Islamic in name only.”

Thirty-five years in a liberal democracy, yet he still can’t imagine governance apart from Islam, even while enjoying the benefits of an infidel, non-Islamic system.

Sadly, Muslims will always embrace democracy only as a vehicle to serve their interests, until they can make Islam the law of the land.

I’ve been seeing SO many conspiracy theories flying around - Israel did it, organized leftist networks, fabricated text messages, bystanders giving hand signals, even claims he faked his own death.

But here’s the thing… **Occam’s Razor** tells us that the simplest explanation that fits the facts is usually the correct one. 🔍

**The Simple Facts:**
✅ Tyler Robinson, 22, surrendered to police
✅ He confessed to his parents saying Kirk “spreads too much hate”
✅ He acted alone according to charging documents
✅ He’s now facing murder charges and the death penalty
✅ Multiple camera angles captured the shooting

**The Complex Theories:**
❌ Elaborate plots involving foreign governments
❌ Secret terrorist networks
❌ Fabricated evidence by multiple agencies
❌ Coordinated conspiracies requiring dozens of people

Which makes more sense? 🤔

One person with extreme views committed a terrible act of violence. That’s it. No grand conspiracy needed.

**This doesn’t mean:**

- His views were right or justified (they absolutely weren’t)
- We can’t be angry and heartbroken
- We shouldn’t push for answers

It just means we should think critically before jumping to wild conclusions that require way more assumptions than the straightforward explanation.

**ENOUGH: Why I'm Done Staying Silent About Political Violence**

Up until now I've tried to be as apolitical as possible. But after reading comments online celebrating the tragic murder of Charlie Kirk, I will no longer hold back.

If you are unable to have civil political discourse... If you cannot realize that regardless of your political beliefs, his murder is a tragedy... If you feel that political violence is ever justified... then we have nothing more to discuss.

For those who are "friends" with me and choose to revel in anyone's death - either unfriend me now or be prepared for pushback. I'm done allowing hateful comments that celebrate violence to go unchallenged, regardless of which side they come from.

If George Floyd was considered a hero, then Charlie Kirk is a saint. Think about that for a moment.

Even Bill Maher recognized the tragedy of Charlie Kirk's assassination. When someone as politically opposed to Kirk as Maher can show basic human decency, there's no excuse for celebrating violence.

If you choose to remain my friend after reading this, know that I will not tolerate intolerance. We can disagree on politics while still maintaining our humanity.
