@HortonHearsTx@DanPatrick Meh. I don’t know. It’s clear that how this was going to go had already been decided before the trial even started. Erin Epley used to work for Dan Patrick’s son.
@endodoug @Elgin_Learn2Sew @Forrest4Trees Good grief. Could this comment be more misogynistic? The men were waving their hands theatrically and yelling. She was spouting facts clearly and calmly. Like she knew Patrick would need help understanding the rules so she was prepared. There was nothing yappy about her.
@endodoug@LoewyLawFirm@patty_michele1 You thought Epley was arrogant and patronizing? Of all people up there she was the most calm, composed and clearly stating facts. Buzbee waving his hands dramatically, making crazy voices, acting like he was too good to be there. Epley looked incredibly polished next to him.
@WireTexas @CarolforTexas@FBI There was lots of evidence. 2 key pieces: the invoice Paxton paid for the home reno was created AFTER the whistleblowers went to the FBI. And he fired the whistleblowers without just cause thereby violating the TX Whistleblowers Act which was impeachment Article II.
@Jetspete@leachfortexas I don’t know how they could have proven that Paxton violated the Texas Whistleblowers Act more clearly. Paxton fired every whistleblower, which is against the law, one month later, and then used taxpayer $ to pay them because he didn’t have just cause. It couldn’t be more clear.
@Jetspete I do agree with this. Go after the 2-3 that you have the best chance of proving. Only needed 1. I felt they clearly proved Articles II and VI.
@Jetspete Was it their job to do that? It seemed they felt they witnessed unethical behavior, reported it as their duty, and wanted the FBI to investigate and find the hard evidence. I wouldn’t have expected the whistleblowers to dig through documents and find hard copies of evidence.
@Jetspete@realmitchlittle And then Erin Epley proved that the invoice Paxton paid for the home reno was created AFTER the whistleblowers went to the FBI. Proving there was no intent to pay for the work until after the FBI was aware as they were trying to cover it up. THAT was the big moment.
@CareBearSig@TanParkerTX Seriously — the precedent this sets. We now allow people to create crimes in plain sight with zero repercussions. This is insane and I don’t know what has happened to my Texas.
@TanParkerTX You are my Senator and I am so disappointed. There was clear evidence for Article II and violation of the Texas Whistleblowers Act. He ruined people’s careers. You chose party over ethics and that is not even a choice you should ever have to make. I hope you feel shame.
Thank you Blake Brickman, Ryan Vassar, Jeff Mateer, David Maxwell, Mark Penley, and Drew Wicker for doing what is right even when it was hard. I am sorry that your peers do not hold the same character. May you find peace and may justice be served one day. #PaxtonTrial#Paxton
@weim_mm97@JennaEllisEsq That’s literally what we just witnessed in the trial and their allegations were deemed credible. That’s why the FBI and the Senate took them seriously.
@janconcern @TXGOPCaucus@VictoriaTXGOP Thank you #kellyhancock and #robertnichols for putting what is right over what is easy. Thank you for putting ethics over party. Thank you for reviewing the evidence. Thank you for fighting for Texas. You should sleep soundly tonight while your colleagues cannot.
