Jayson Tatum - Boston Celtics
Left Ankle Sprain
You can see Sabonis gets too close to Tatum’s left foot during his landing (arrow), causing Tatum to laterally roll his left ankle (circle).
This is likely to be a classic lateral ankle sprain.
I’m assuming he will undergo an MRI today, which will determine the severity of the injury.
Best case scenario is this is a grade 1 lateral ankle sprain, and he will be eligible to return in 7-10 days.
If this is closer to a grade 2, or the Celtics want to be extra careful, then he will likely miss closer to 3-4 weeks.
The NBA playoffs begin on April 19, and the Celtics are pretty much locked into the #2 seed, which is 26 days away.
Either way, I think Tatum will be completely fine for the Celtics playoff run as they attempt to win back-to-back Championships.
